And that is a big error in this guide ! ( excelent guide btw).

You MUST'NT use the MA script for a divx :!:
I did scripts especially for that and you should take them there :

You don't need that if you use a script with gripcrop.

Phil i tried using your scripts and even adding the filters recomended but it no one can help me cause it does not create the "TMPGEnc_Project_file_KVCD.tpr" (its blank and dvd2kvcd stops cause it has nothing to do) i even uninstalled dvd2svcd even deleted the folder, resetted my computer, and reinstalled dvd2svcd. i added the dvd2kvcd plugin and i switched to tmpgenc 2.52x from 2.59x plus and it wont work like it did before. ERRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! :angryfire: somebody please help!!!!!!!!!!
thanx

bazzy2004 06-11-2004 08:22 AM

yeh.. same process for dvd

yeh i used the avi just as an example.. but its mainly the same procedure...

bazzy2004 06-11-2004 08:26 AM

facar

facar is found at the following...

website - http://www.geocities.com/r6d2_stuff/

download - http://www.geocities.com/r6d2_stuff/...CAR_1.06.7.zip

i m also working on the kdvd guide...

thanx bazzy im doing charlies angles full throttle at 528x480 ( P.S. it is full screen ) but it says its encoding to 480x480. o well. any suggestions? thanx

bazzy2004 06-11-2004 12:03 PM

yeh..

dont worry about tht... it says svcd 480x480, but if u use the original ma script with no changes... it will be 528x480, due to the gripcrop... but if u are good at this kind of stuff.. u can edit the script after copy pasting to get 528x480

i am working on it now.. if it succeeds i will post n tell u how to, nevertheless... use the original ma script which is loaded when u choose tht size in the plugin.. tht is if u cant wait

password 06-11-2004 12:50 PM

thanx again bazzy. what r un working on? o well i will still wait cause you have a solution to every problem i have (a step ahead of me and getting me out of every hole i step in to) :D thanx

bazzy2004 06-11-2004 01:30 PM

trying to...

i am trying making a 704x480 skvcd.. but i am also trying to edit the pasted facar scipt, so the the size is 704, and not 720, if it works, then u can also make 528x480 using facar script... because normally.. the facar script works to the the size dvd2svcd shows (svcd 480x480/576, vcd 320x240/288, etc...)

also keeping in mind tht u will have the correct resizing n cropping on your tv... with the whole picture showing, and the best compression to quality ratio possible...

hope u understood...

thanx bazzy

bazzy u said "also keeping in mind tht u will have the correct resizing n cropping on your tv... with the whole picture showing, and the best compression to quality ratio possible... " how do i do that (expecialy if it does every thing automatic)? and does it make a difference that i do mpeg1(never use mpeg2)? also what resolutions and/or settings do you recommend for full screen and wide screen? thanx

bazzy2004 06-11-2004 06:19 PM

re..

the thing is... you dont do tht... facar script does that, automatically.
thts what i was trying to explain. it uses the correct overscan, and adds the borders according to the size of the source...

with lower bitrates, mpeg 1 works best... but if u decide to use mpeg 2.. u will notice more blockiness.. but it doesnt hurt to try

i have made both kvcds and also skvcds, and both work fine.. but i have to admit, i have the best results from kvcds.

best resolutions for widescreen and fullscreen.. hmmm, theres no right answer... becuz..

if you have a widescreen source... facar will resize it in the give resolution and will appear correct on the tv, also counts for fullscreen..

but for fullscreen, i would use lower resolutions.. 352x480/576 is a good choice, and for widescreen, i would use 528x480.

hope it helps...

bazzy, that a look in that pictures:
http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/675...doverscan1.jpg
http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/384...doverscan3.jpg
see that the first picture using fitcd overscan1,show the same as the second picture from fitcd overscan3...same details within the borders without loose parts of the scenes(pictures)
now see that using Facar:
http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/9291/facar1.jpg
see that i'm loosing part of the picture within the borders(the chickens on the left and in the right are loose).
i posted the same in the doom9 Facar thread:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.ph...972#post510972
waiting for r6d2 answers!

bazzy2004 06-14-2004 05:57 PM

Yes, i notice that also, it should work correctly... or might be something wrong with the script. But i dont understand what... lets look forward to r6d2's answer...

thanx for letting me know.

@ bazzy and all
after slow comparisons i got this conclusion:

what we gain in the right/left using fitcd overscan(1,2 or 3), we loose in the top/bottom.
compare the size of the black borders in top/bottom of Facar...
have less black bordes and with fitcd overscan have more.
means that with overscan we don't get real gain and the black borders in right/left from Facar are "invisibles" in the tv(4:3)
....resuming my "explanation":

fitcd overscan ---> less black borders in right/left from fitcd overscan (that are invisibles in tv, then are irrelevants) and true loose in top/bottom(too big black borders)
you loose more in top/bottom than gain in left/right.

FACAR ---> less black borders in top/bottom with facar(the real gain)and "invisibles" left/right borders in tv!

ps: in the end what we can think or feel as "loose" using Facar is the "true gain"!
that pictures are some more prooves, only need atention in all details!

i posted the same in the Facar thread in d9!

i only change the default 0.05 to 0.03 in OverscanH/OverscanV in Facar to get perfect results in my tv after long tests!

:!:

bazzy2004 06-15-2004 05:57 AM

ok so let me get this right...

with fitcd, u dont lose any pictures from the sides.. but this infact increases the borders on the top and bottom, so u get a smaller picture overall, with 2 huge black borders

correct ?

n with facar.. is actually cuts the overscan from left and right, while keeping the correct size borders on top and bottom. so we increase the compression, while getting rid of the normally unseen area of the picture on tv.

correct ?

but both ways have advantages and disadvantages

advantage with fitcd - u have the whole picture on the screen
disadvantage - u have huge black borders on top and bottom, small picture size

advantage with facar - u have a good sized picture, no huge top n bottom borders. n removes the unseen overscan part of image which is not normally seen on tv.
disadvantages with facar - the part of picture removes from left and right might result in loss of important picture during the movie.. (but i guess it would not be so bad... since it would normally not be seen)

conclusion - facar has my vote.. and it works pretty well, nice job r6d2 - n also thanx to Jorel for bringing this point up... hope i have been correct... n of some help...

:)

jorel 06-15-2004 06:18 AM

8)
you're correct in everything bazzy, include about r6d2 nice job :!:
...(wow, someone understood what i mean)
your explanations are really clever than mine. Facar have my vote too.
i only change OverscanH/OverscanV to 0.03 for my personal taste
....or better, for the taste of my tv .
(i did technics adjusts of height/width in my tv to get extreme details in the borders)
:)

DKruskie 06-15-2004 08:30 AM

I tried to install the dvd2kvcd plugin and keep getting this
Autolt Error
Line 1223:
RunWait, "C:\\DVD2SVCD\\\\D2K\\AutXtra.exe" *clipboard
Error: Unable to run program(Ensure that backslashes have been used properly)

Does anyone know what causes this?

DKruskie i had the same problem. so what worked for me, is that i also installed kvcdlite. but you double click it and close every thing that pops up. then it will install d2k folder to the directory with to .ini files. if all goes well, double click dvd2kvcd plugin and your on your way to make a awsome quality kvcd. :D
P.S. what cause this it because it's trying to run something from a folder that doesn't exist (d2k)
