Question on the passage to TMPGenc

Hello. I hope nobody will feel annoyed by these questions. I assure that I make efforts, and I canīt make a KVCD controlling itīs size.

Iīm not sure about the part when I load the avs to TMPGenc  .
I assume I have to load the KVCD template with the corresponding resolution (what about mpeg1 or mpeg2??are the calculations suited for both formats?),

and in the rate control mode settings of TMPGenc I type the values of max, min and average bitrate that Moviestacker calculed (and what about the quality that ranges from Lower(0) to Highest(100), which is usually set to 60?, And what about the rest of the parameters?). :?:

Also, I have no idea how this program handles the size prediction, I mean, Acp and ToK make test encodings to calculate the size of the file... and Moviestacker, I imagine it calculates a priori... does it? What does it do? :?:

Iīve searched the forum for a while and Iīm not finding this information.

Anybody kind, I will appreciate any answers. :D

First don't take this wrong becuase i'm just asking ,do you have or know how to make avs :D because this is what moviestacker does

Min and max are dependent on what your dvd player will handle, lets talk about mpeg1 these are the usual values avi-min 300,max 2500 dvd min 300,max 2000 and the CQ setting(0-100) is what makes the size of the movie correct(you need to use file prediction for this.

as far as moviestacker it generates a script(avs) and mostly is used for resizing values

With these questions i think you will need to read alot here to get started :D also check out some of the guides on the homepage here

Hi,
Welcome to the forums :D
Start with a good guide for newbie and you'll get to the conclusion that you need to "predict" the size of your encoded movie.
The higher the CQ the larger the M2V file generated by tmpgenc.
After reading the guides, try CQMatic for final size prediction.
You'll love it :)
Cheers

Thanks for the replies

Thanks a lot. Last night, after posting here, I arrived at the CQmatic thread and, added to what you both say here, makes my chest lighter.
@bigggt: I know what avs are.
Iīm gonna try now.
Have a nice day!

Good :)
You wouldn't by any chance be Spanish, would you?
Just asking because of your nickname ;-)
If you are you have a big Spanish speaking crowd here.
And they know KVCD a lot.
It seems English language is not a barrier for you but if you run into some difficult to explain problem give the Spanish forum a try.
That is, if you're by any chance Spanish ;-)
Cheers

Thanks for your words, Rui. Iīm from Argentina, a sort of "bizarre Spain", so this makes no inconvenience.

Guys, I encountered some problems after following explanations form the forum and a guide (♀"the bible of kvcd.pdf"). I know itīs not the safest choice to mix tecniques, but I think these problems are not related to this:

-The aspect ratio became taller. This is the .AVS:
(((((((((((((((((((
LoadPlugin("D:\Archivos de programa\MovieStacker200 beta3\Filters\MPEG2Dec.dll")
LoadPlugin("D:\Archivos de programa\MovieStacker200 beta3\Filters\GripFit_preview.dll")
LoadPlugin("D:\Archivos de programa\MovieStacker200 beta3\Filters\BlockBuster.dll")

AviSource("D:\VCD\metal1.avi")
GripCrop(528, 480, overscan=2, source_anamorphic=false)
GripSize(resizer="BilinearResize")
BlockBuster(method="noise", detail_min=2)
GripBorders()
))))))))))))))))))))

The source is 512x384. When I play it on the PC, itīs ok, only that there are black borders that seem to me a little too much, and the side borders show a little on the TV screen, and the image is stretched. Both encoding-templates and DVD player are NTSC. The image quality is very good.

-The other problem is that I canīt burn (S)VCDs with nero, which appears everywhere as an easy program to burn VCD. I create a new SVCD and uncheck the "standard compliance" option, and below, where it says "try to fit to CD size" I change from "74 min" to "80 min". I click NEXT. I drag & drop the multiplexed file (video encoded as "EN (video only)", audio encoded as mp2@128kbps, multiplexed as "SVCD program(VBR)", size=760 meg). I start burning (at 4X) and it shows the "itīs not standard: what to do?" screen. I click on "disable compliance" and OK.The next thing that happens is that it shows the message asking if I want to do overburn, which I didnīt see mentioned in the guides and tutorials :!: . I click "overburn" and it burns.
When I play it on the DVD, the display shows a 41 minute duration (original is 91 minutes), and I play it anyway. When it reaches 40 minutes of playtime the image freezes. Later on, when I tried to copy the mpg from the CD back to the PC, the copying hangs up at about 80%.
I gotta go right now, but I think thatīs all the picture.
Bye
