Hi,
I have used a black border to compensate for overscan when I create my PAL KVCD's, with great success as I can see all the picture on my samsung tv (widescreen).

I have now bought a dvd burner and am beginning to experiment with KDVD (this is fun I must say). I have read many posts here but I am still not sure that I am doing the right thing. I am currently doing an introduction with some words (prior to some DV I shot) using avisynth and I'm trying to get this to encode to KDVD (704x576 PAL) without losing parts of the words to the overscan.

And I am finding I have to use larger values for AddBorders (which I use for the border) compared to my KVCD scripts (at least for left and right. Top and bottom values are 32 as I use for KVCD with resolution 544x576) . I would like to hear your opinion about this, should I use a large value? Or should I just use 16 pixels just the same as I used to do with KVCD's and move the words to be within the visible part on the screen? (at least as it is on my tv)

The is nor reason to change the border size. The TV overscan value is tied to your TV set. If 16 was correct, continue to use it.
The only diff is when you use 352 as width : as the width will be scaled to 768 by the TV to display the picture, the size of the border should be reduced by 2).

In otehr words, use 16.

I'll do that and in this 'title sequence' I created, I'll simply avoid the overscan area too. Thanks.
