Hey everyone, it's me again. I gave Mencode-ME a whirl with an xvid avi encode from an hdtv source, and I have to admit that the results were quite surprising! Using the premade AVI filter setting, there were some MAJOR improvements from Dialhot's existing AVI optimal scripts. Most noticeable was the complete lack of DCT blocks in dark scenes, but I think Mencode-ME filter settings made the result look very blury. There was a lot less detail in my opinion.

As a complete newbie, what can I do to make my AVI encodes look better? First of all I have NO idea where you can customize things, I'm so used to using avisynth scripts. I'd like to give Packshot a try but I have no idea what the recommended settings are for Avi files. I also don't know how to do overscan with Mencode-ME.

I know I am a COMPLETE novice in this area and I really hope someone can help me and please forgive my ignorance! Thanks
