The difference is that the x3 is higher quality than SKVCD ( CVD, SVCD ).
It looks slightly sharper than the SKVCD on large TV's, and a huge difference viewed on a HDTV. But if you're happy with the SKVCD, you can stick to that, as you're still gaining play time with the SKVCD. If you change the resolution on the x3 MPEG-2 to 352x480, you end up with SKVCD
