hello, its been so long since i've used TMPGenc, i've been mainly using MENCODEme, but i want to try something that MENCODEme does not support. KVCD with a low birate. what i'm trying to do is take a big VOB and encode it to be a KVCD thats less then 600 MB. i already know which templete to use. and i know that i have to use CalcuMatic to calculate the avergae birate to feed it into CQMatic and get a CQ rate at which to encode. but when i get the CQ its always a big number like 87 out of a 101 minute movie which an average birate of 615.0. is taht normal if i want a KVCD less then 600 MB ?

Open in a mediaplayer the ".sample" file that CQMatic left on the disc after it found the CQ. You surely have an error...

Humm... with ULBR you can put up to 6 hour on a CD. That is 150 MB per hour. So I guess that is not wrong to have 87.77 for 1h41.

Perhaps ULBR is too much. You should try with LBR.

Note: why do you want 600 MB when a CD is 800 ?

In the top of the CQ scale (above 85), the slighest variation can lead to a difference in the file of several MB.
Here CQ matic foudn the value 87.7 and perhaps the real correct one was 87.5. You see ? The accuracy is not really good in this part of the CQ curve.

DVD2AVI can't handle very well MPEG1 source. That is perhaps the case ?
