Bitrates: Tmpg and CQmatic, Cq very low?
Just a quick question... Using tmpgenc (TMpgEnc Plus 2.5.21.58.169) and CqMatic 1301.
It all works perfectly, I got a 690 Mb m1v and a 70 odd Mb mp2, musex them to make a sub 800Mb kvcd, ok. My question is: During all the work, cqmatic came up with a cq of 20.56. That's for d2v from good dvd source. Tmpg res ws 352x x288 vcd size. So how come you guys have shown logs of >60 for cq with bigger size res (480 x ?? was one (the ?? is wher I forget the numbers :lol: ) Interestingly enough, the kvcd looks very nice, very few blocks, etc. Just that wierdo low cq gets me wondering. |
It is definitely NOT possible to find a source encoded in CQ < 50 watchable :-)
Don't you use CQ_VBR ? |
Hang on, I'll check (this is my first full Tmpg kvcd)...
:oops: Yep. So 20 odd is normal for cq_vbr? (minrate was 200, max was 1850). Whew! Just out of interest, why is cq_vbr so low, and plain cq high? Thanks, Dialhot! |

CQ=70 -> CQ_VBR=18/20 CQ=75 -> CQ_VBR=20/22 CQ=80 -> CQ_VBR= 23/25 ... Quote:
