Avi to video using packshot and mencoder

guys can u help. What are the best settings for this?

I encoded a piece of film (23.976) using 2 pass 4500 average bit rate 8000 max with pulldown at the end.

when its done the video seems hazy! Does anyone know why the vid seems a bit jagged on faces, where am I going wrong.

Dialhot 06-30-2004 04:01 PM

Can you describe more "visually" what you mean by the face are jagged ?
I don't know this word :-(

tommyboy 06-30-2004 04:28 PM

there seems to be edges around objects and the video is not sharp like in cinemacraft

Dialhot 06-30-2004 05:31 PM

Hum. Too much sharpening with packshot ?
Can you post the line you used, or describe the settings you were using ?

incredible 07-01-2004 06:00 AM

YEP! We need that line and

- a pic where we can see the original

- and another pic where we can see the encoding

both images should have the snapshot of the SAME frame!

If you dont have webspace, then try to find a free webspace provider on the www.

And we do also need the command line!
Means the .bat file in your target folder.

Packshot and DIKO

Must apologise for the delay in responding. Have been busy. Sorry that I posted DIKO info in wrong forum, have given up on this as quality was crap. The resultant video was all wavy.

Anyway I use a decent source to encode to DVD resolution of 720 x 576 - what a difference, the encode video was fantastic quality although it did seem to take for ages but it was worth it!

I ran the same source thro DVD2SVCD using CCE- the result was C**p.

But am happy now, although still cannot get the KVCD's as good as u guys.

Would be interested to know what the gop u set and resolution etc!! any thoughts as the guides don't tell it like experience does and everyone seems reluctant to divulge their tips!

cheers for your help, Tom

We all use official GOP and Resolution of KVCD !
Where do you see we are reluctant to post any tips ? I didn't posted thousands of message to give tomorrow's weather ;-)

Go on KVCD.net, and see officials specif of KVCD.
And FYI, if we have to tell all our knowledge at each post, they will be 50 page long each.

So, just ask precise question, and we will answer :-)
