I just started to encode a NTSC at 23,976 frames/second. its a VOB converting to a 1cd KSVCD using DVD filter. and i get this, i played the MPV in VLC and the quality is perfect i just wanted to know what that is and if it will effect anything...

Code:
Pos: 6.3s 152f ( 0%) 4fps Trem: 0min 0mb A-V:0.000 [615:0]
 1 duplicate frame(s)!
Pos: 6.3s 153f ( 0%) 4fps Trem: 0min 0mb A-V:0.000 [625:0]
[/code]

Did you try to change the framerate during this operation ?
Because this arrive when you have a 23.976 source than you try to encode into 25 fps for instance.

I can't tell you if you can cotinue as I always stop the job on ce I saw this message and correct the problem.

In fact mencoder can't deal with framerate conversion.

I can't really help you so because I dropped this encoder due to all its problem (as you can see ).

Note: 4fps as encoding speed ? Are you using an old PC or do you hve a lot of filters activated ?

Note2 : 625 as bitrate ? You are doing a KVCD ? Stop it !
Mencoder is NOT for KVCD. Too bad results and too much troubles.

But you are free to test it by your own naturally

Mencoder is not like avisynth : all filters are internal and are used or not used according to the parameters you put on the command line.
This line is generated by mencoderME but I don't know this tool so I don't know what filters it uses.

I haven't noticed taht.
MencoderME was done in the early tests of mencoder. At this time people doesn't really realize that the encoder is not really good for other things taht KDVD. Things (and minds) changed since then.

Yes it is. Very promising but I (and I do mean "I") find it in a stage really too early to be used as universal encoder.

i agree with you on that, but still not as promising as TMPGEnc i've read your post on the difference between them and all that still think mencodeme can diliver some outstanding quality but with some flaws.

EDIT: i just tried something and made this work, i think i was using something that i should'nt have been using with MencodeME, the IVTC option, even though i read about it and understodd it i think its best if i use it with TMPGEnc for now

Yes, ivtc means Inverse Telecined and must be used only for telecined source. That is a source that was shouted in 23.976 but "telecined" into 29.970 fps. The IVTC try to restore back the original 23.976 situation.
In your case, the source can't be telecined (because it is already 23.976)

which caused the "1 duplicate frame(s)" okay and now working fine its passed 45% for the first pass and looks pretty good so far
thanks

yes see everything would seem normal, while i was trying it and had the problem with the duplicate frames, the movie would play perfectly in VLC as if its encoding, but the percentage would never go up just would stay at 0 and thats bad lol
