I would like to encode videos from divx, to kdvd.

The divx videos are about 200mB, which are 20 mins long and hves resolutions of 512*384, and bitrates about 160kb/s. I would like to fit about 20 of these on a dvd in kdvd format.

So if i were to make it a kdvd, would it be possible for me to continually have the same quality (with no loss), and not sacrifice the file size for it? And which template should i use or modify to make it right for me?

By the way, i would like to encode it in PAL and i want the audio bitrate to be 256kbps.

KDVD is excellent quality especially from a DVD Source.

If you are using DivX as a source then the quality largely depends on the how good the original DivX video is.

There is a Tool available by Vmesquita called DIKO you can find the latest free version in the DIKO section.

This should be able to convert your DivX to KDVD automatically for you.

Hope this helps.

try my guide:

http://www.asimshah.ho8.com/kvcdguides/

click on the kdvd link on top, its a link not title!!

divide 4350 by 20 which = 217

set it as the size, and i would use the 352x480/576 - or even just 352x240/288.

give it a go!

For 400 minutes (6h40) of fulls screen videos you won't have a good quality in 352*480. Go directly to 352*240.

And the audio won't be 256 There is no need to go so hight after all, except if these are musics.

but the problem is that i dont want any quality loss, wouldnt bringing 512*384 down to 352*240 be a huge loss to the resolution?

If you don't want quality loss do not reencode.

Is it possible to make the resolution 512*384, and burn it on the disk the same way? Would it work?

If i can do that, i am having problems working it out on FitCD, as i dont get that option, and when i press PAL, the the picture gets stretched vertically.

Not it is not possible. And even if it was you won't fit 400 minutes of video on 4.37 GB in such resolution !

Buy a Divx capable standalone if you wish to keep your videos as they are. But a few of them will play Xivd (because I guess they are Xvids... I don't know why )
