Hi I just started working with DVD2SVCD and it works perfect!! but there is a few queststions plz help me out:

1.Everytime I make a KSVCD the final video (bbMPEG_Muxed_File00.mpeg) is always like 740 MB or less so there is in this case 60MB of unused space???? (I use normally 128 KBps sound 1 audio stream)

2. Which Matrix is the best I always use the KVCD preset or Andreas SVCD matrix but lots of people say they suck???

3.Some video's I encode and I burn them try them on my stand alone DVD (4:3 tv) the video is higher and somtimes it just a stripe of 10CM high and then the substitels are in black but some times it is like 30 CM hig and the subtitels are in the video (not in the lettervbox) but the last is what I want how do I set it??(i always use encodde as 16:9)

4.When I have a NTSC video do you HAVE to convert to PAL???? I never do and it still plays on my DVD??(anhd also what is deinterlacing?)

5.I have a Amstrad DX3016 but when I use SVCD subs they dont play??? becuase then you also have a bbMPEG.....subbed.mpg file how to burn??????

ok pleaase help me then I can continou w00t
thnx in advance!

Unfortunally, NO it doesn't work perfect at all. For instance :

Final file size is UNPREDICTABLE !
You will never find anyway to have a control on the filesize and a lot of time you will be under (not really bad) but sometimes also a lot above.; Then this is problematic because D2S does not see it is above the target size and create a CD with only the begining of the video because the remainder would have need a second CD

That is the reason I dropped D2S a long time ago for KVCD (I'm trying it just now for DVD but the process is different).

Someone tell you KVCD matrix sucks ? Buy him some new eyes
BTW, be carrefull, the KVCd matix that is delivered with D2S is an obsolete one. The last has some little difference and you should modify the one that is in DVD2SVCD.
The correct matrix is here : http://www.kvcd.net/portal/articles.php?lng=en&pg=20

You just discovered that some movies are shot in 2.35 and others in 1.85.
16:9 is 1.77, so to match 1.85 or 2.35 you have to add little or big black borders. That is what you describe by 10cm and 30cm.

Idiot question ! You answered to it by yourself.

SVCD subtiles are supported by very few standalones only.

ARE YOU MANDATORY TO USE SO MUCH "???" IN YOU SENTENCES ?

In fact case, what I can suggest to you is :
- you start all the process with D2S but you ask it to use a fixed CQ of 70 for instance.
- when tmpgenc starts, you close it then you stop d2s.
- then you proces the encodign of the video by hand, as you always do (because as I unsderstand, you know how to do them manually, right ?)
just be carreful that you have to use the exact name of the target file that d2s is supposed to create.
- restart d2s and use the recover function. It will continue to the next step, using the video that you had encoded by hand.
