A problem with aspect ratio

I have been using TMPEGEnc to convert AVI to KVCD using different templates (mainly KVCD-CQ-NTSC). I noticed that when playing the movie on my TV, that the aspect ratio is not correct (this is my guess). What I see on the TV, for example, is that the faces of the actors are stretched a little bit.
Any hints?

Do you use a script or directly the avi as source in tmpgenc ?

Whatare the settings you set in tmpgenc for video arrangement, target A/R and source A/R ?

I used two approaches.
1- Using TMPGEnc directly to convert from AVI to KVCD using template (no scripts).
2- Use EO-Video to convert AVI to MPEG. Then use TMPEGEnc to convert MPEG to KVCD.

I usually select the default settings. For example, when converting standard VCD file to KVCD using TMPGEnc, the settings I am using are:
Source: 4:3 525 line (NTSC, 704x480)

I am not sure where to get target A/R. I know that the target resolution is 352x480 since I am using the KVCD-CQ template.

If I am using AVI directly as input to TMpegEnc, again I usually do not change the source settings (I leave it for the default). For example, 1:1 VGA.

Question: What is the reason for a script if I can use the TMPMEnc template?

Okay, all that is correct.

For target A/R this is in the "video" settings of tmgenc, just under the size (resolution) and above the framerate.

But you have to change also the "video arrangement" method in the advanced setting that must be on "Full screen (keep aspect ratio)" if you don't use a script, and "center" if you use one.

Because if you have to resize the picture, a script gives a far better result than the internal resizer of tmpgenc.

Two more questions:
1- Where can I find more information about using scripts (an easy introduction/tutorial)?
2- How can I use the scripts in TMPGEnc?

2 - Install avisynth latest version. Load your avs file in TMPGEnc as you do with your avis.
