ntsc xvid to pal dvd

hi,

someone know what to add to optimal script to convert a ntsc xvid to pal dvd?

I only ask this request as my cousin has a pal dvd player an cant find any multi region hacks for it its one of them cheap dvd players from a local supermarket.

I have tried just using the normal script an got jittery picture an the sound was out of sync.

any help on converting with audio an video in sync would be a BIG help.

There is no need of hack ! Hacking is for region check removal, not for NTSC handling. Your KDVD won't have any region set !

Did you even try to play a NTSC KDVD on it ?

Else, please, do some little search. You're on the forum since 2 years and this subject was discussed sooooo many time ! Can't you just read the posts ?
:x

try using dvd2dvd (used to be called dvd2svcd) there is an option to convert ntsc to pal and it works a treat, I have done many myself.

Dialhot: I looked but nothin on xvid conversion thats why I posted the question. and as for the region hack well I tried out a ntsc film I already done onto dvd and it wouldn't play got a green screen up with very chopy sound.

urban tec: I'll give that a try, I have used it in the past before I found out about kvcd but didn't use it much as I didn't quite know what I was doin hehehe.

Don't you see the forum called "AVI->KVCD" ? It is not called divx->kvcd :!:
No diff between an xvid and a divx except that the codec that avisynth wil use is not the same ;-)

Ok, it does not handle NTSC then. But nothing ot do with region hacking.

well sometimes region hacjin can be useful to make a dvd player play both pal an ntsc but cause this was a cheap supermarket one I couldn't find any hacks for it to change the region.

One more time : handling of PAL and NTSC has NOTHING to do with region.

Europe is PAL and region TWO. Japan is NTSC and region TWO :!:

A region 2 sold in Europe is not mandatory to read disc from Japan even if they are of the same region (even if almost all players read them in fact).

NTSC and PAL handling is a matter of hardware and internal clocking (electronics has to work in both 50 and 60 Hz to produce image with this same frequency).

There is an ENTIRE SECTION of the forum on that and you can't find it ? :-)
But you mean KDVD, not KVCD I think. If you already know how to do a KDVD from a DVD, you just need a script that handle xvid.

And that is there :
http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7223

All the process is exactly the same else and you can choose the method you want. Or use Diko to do that automatically if you prefer that solution.
(and please, do not tell me you do'nt find Diko)

andybno1 07-22-2004 01:27 PM

I cant find diko  only messing.

I'll give diko a try just hope usin this will produce a none jittery video output with out of sync audio like me other failed attempts hehehehe

andybno1 07-22-2004 01:45 PM

ok got diko downloaded and well it wants cce and I only have tmpgenc and well I dont fancy payin out for another encoder so what can I do here then??

Dialhot 07-22-2004 02:33 PM

Diko uses also Quenc that is free.
(may be only diko gold uses it ? not sure). Go read the Diko forum ! And ask your questions about it there.

Else remember the suggestion you received here to use dvd2svcd. Even if that is definietely not somthing I'll suggest. I trash the tool a long time ago because it really can't do a correct CQ prediction.

andybno1 07-22-2004 02:36 PM

yeah I never use dvd2svcd till today an tried usin it but got crappy results had blockyness when there was action scenes or a lot of movement.

andybno1 07-22-2004 03:40 PM

is quenc any good though? with it bein free i have to say I'm a little put back from actually finding it to download an try out

Dialhot 07-22-2004 04:22 PM

I thought I have said to ask question in the DIKO forum... :x

andybno1 07-23-2004 10:13 AM

yes that would be questions regarding diko wouldn't it?? that question was about quenc not diko :P I asked if quenc encoder was any good. that counts as being on the same topic of diko how??

Dialhot 07-23-2004 11:16 AM

All people currently using Qenc are using it with Diko.
Almost noone tested last release of Qenc alone recently.

So where do you expect the have the faster answer ? ;-)

(the proof : did you see any answer to your question here ? :-p)

andybno1 07-23-2004 03:35 PM

well no as it seemed u didn;t want to answer the question here

Dialhot 07-23-2004 03:36 PM

As I do not use Diko, and according to my previous post, I do not either use Quenc.

An other question ?
