CCE vs dvd shrink

Hello guys now from what i have read you should get a better video if you were to use CCE vs dvd shrink

but if you can use dvd shrink at under 15% compression is it still worth it to instead use CCE to fit 1 movie on a dvdr

in short if you can shrink a movie(only)at under 15 % is there any reason to go the other route.

thanx

CCE will always give a better picture than shrink no matter what. But for less than 10%, I found the difference barelly noticeable, not worth the extra time.

I use both and I agree with you my friend CCE to me has the edge. :)

I would even say 15%. And with dvd2one I had great result at 20% but on some movies only.
In fact the time to parse a movie with dvdshrink or dvd2one is so short (30 min) that I always did a test before to decide to swich to CCE method.

Well, personally, I always go either for a Full DVD backup using Big Three Method with CCE (keeping menus, extras, etc), or a KDVD with 2 or 3 movies, so I use Shrink only when for some reason my re-encoded DVD gets a little oversized in the end of the process. :D

Thanx for the replies guys

@ VM

can you please explain what the big 3 is,i have heard it mentioned before but am not sure

thanx

Big3 is a fairly complicated method of reauthoring which involves several different applications, including one (Scenarist) that costs over $2,000 ;). It's pretty much the only option at the moment for retaining the angles in multi-angle discs, at least until DVD Rebuilder supports doing that.

Do a search on Doom9, you'll find lots of info, particularly in the DoItFast4U forum.

The method allows to keep extras ? I have to give it a second look then. Do you remember where the guide is ?

For Big 3 guides, this is a good place to start.

Yes. You can keep everything on the DVD. But it's a very hard method when dealing complicated multiangle DVDs. But the point still is: you can do it. And after some Discs, you start to get a much better knowledge of how DVD Discs work and specially how Scenarist (the beast) works.
