Been making KSVCDs now for months. But the one I've just recently made has me a little puzzled.

I'm completely happy with the quality of both the video and audio and have muxed them together as I always do.

The mpeg plays back fine for the first couple of mins. Then for some reason the audio becomes out of sync by a fraction of a second (it comes just in front of the video). And it continues to play fine right the way throughout at this level of sync. Its puzzling cos there was no noticeable jump in the sound at the point when it lost sync.

I've thought of using BeSweet to maybe delay the audio but am baffled since it WAS in sync at the beginning. I think the only thing I can do is to set the delay and put up with the initial 2-3 mins of the mpeg out of sync (i.e. the opposite of what I have at the mo). Would I be right?

If the problem arrives suddenly in the middle of the video then you probably face to a corrupted source and fixing that is nearly impossible.

But else, for sure you can use the method you said.

Ok Phil, I think I'll end up doing that. Having the first 2 mins out then the rest in sync is a FAR better mpeg.

One quick question tho - although I know how to manually insert a delay using BeSweet, is there any way of finding out the EXACT amount of milliseconds I require? If I just guess (intelligently), then my concern is that towards the end of the mpeg, won't it be slightly out of sync again?

Yes, there is a way.
You need to install the very last ac3 codec (1.01a of after). Launch the "ac3filter config" tool and go in the system tab.
Tehre check all the box "use AC3 for".and OK.

Launch the player, read your video. The ac3filter should be in use even if the audio is NOT ac3. Then restart the ac3filter config tool and return to "system". You see the slider "Audio/Video" sync ? Enjoy

Ok as per your instruction, I downloaded the AC3 filter 1.01 (RC5) from www.free-codecs.com.

Ticked all the 'use AC3 for' boxes. Clicked OK.

Launched my player (BSPlayer 1.0) and opened the AC3 filter alongside it - and as you said, it was in use as the file played.

However, in the system tab, the Audio/Video sync slider was still sitting at zero (in the middle). Now, I'm not sure whether what you meant for me to see, was it sitting at the correct millisecond delay or if I was to manually change it. But it remained at zero and if I changed it, it made no difference to the audio/video playing in the mpeg (still out of sync).

Have I done something wrong? Does the mpeg need demuxing first perhaps?
