Pulling a SKVCD off a burned disc?

Been trying to get a movie off a disk I burned a while ago. It is a SKVCD burned with Nero. The file on the disk is a .mpg not a .dat.

I tried using VcdGear but no luck..the movie comes off fine and looks great except the fact it kinda stutters every 5-7 seconds.

So was wondering if anyone knew of a way to pull it off the disk and what program to use. Svcd files work great when pulled from the disk with VcdGear.

Thanks, Mich. :D

Haaa I always thought that it had to be taken off disk by a program. Don't know why I though that. Well seemed to do the trick but sound and vid are a tad off so gotta demux and try to fix..

Thanks for the help Dialhot :D

Re rip SKVCD

Hi Mich,
Hi mich In my limited capacity of KVCD knowledge I am not 100% sure what you are trying to do. Do you want to copy the film to another disc or merely rip it to edit it in some way? If it is the later I would recommend you try the latest version of ISOBUSTER which is in the downloads section of this site or easily located by search on the net. I had this problem a while ago and sorted it using Isobuster in which I ripped the MPEG file, normally called AV something with a load of numbers after it using the right click menu command in Isobuster and ripping it as RAW BUT CONVERT TO USABLE DATA. I the succesfully edited the ripped track and rechaptered it in VCD EASY. It then burned fine in latest version of NERO6. Hope this helps you,
Regards,
Steve. :D

What the hell is that ?
Did you see he has a SVCD, so the file on the disc should be the MPEG. AM I wrong since so many years ?

Oh, man :rotf: This is Mode2Form2. Every kid in this world knows that in this mode are VCD and SVCD on your CDs.

Yes pal :) sorry. Check angain header of file on disk and the same file burned as SVCD (VCD). Do you see difference :?: No :?: Then what to hell are this lyrics: RIFFT../CDXAfmt.........UXA........data0../......etc.
Maybe CD is dirty

You're judging file by extension :?: :insight:

EDIT: My point is: If he want to extract files form (S)VCD to disk, and obtain pure mpeg file then he shoud use tool to erase M2F2 header, if he plans to burn again the same file on another CD. But, such applications as NERO are smart and erases header of file even if he egsists, so you dont have to worry about it. But maybe one day if you use some tool to burn (S)VCD that do not erases M2F2 header then you will have two headers in the same file, and your standalone may get lost.

Yes but that does not change the content of the file ! That's just the way they are burn (2532 bytes block insteed of 2048) and must be read.
But since win98 (ME ?) mode2 is read directly by filemanager.

YES in VCD, NO in SVCD. At least let say that I never used any tool to extract my SVCD mpeg and I never notice any diff. But I never look into the file closely either :-)

No, but that's won't change the fact that VCD contains DAT and SVCD MPEG. I did not speak about what is inside the file.

Just a little update to tell that this question was wondering me so I verified and... I was wrong since all this time :-)

The MPEG2 on the SVCD have a RIFF header
