Bitrates: What is a Good CQ for Encoding?

Hi Forum,
I just recently got this working and it gave a CQ of 50.04 as a final CQ for a 97min movie, using a resolution 528x576 on the SKVCD Template.
My question is, Is this a good CQ or should it be higher for this length of movie? Also can somebody please tell me what the CQ OVERIDE tick box does?
I have also wondered does CQMatic predict the estimated size of a sound track to be added later as this is not included in the script as far as I can see?????

This will have very different opinions alot of people won't go under 70 ,some under 65 ,some under 50

Me personally like anything over 65

Now as far as being good for that movie it all depends on a few things

full screen :?:
High action movie :?:

CQ matic starts with a certain CQ(can't remember if its 60 or 70)but by ticking this you can select the CQ that you want to start with

How did you get your average bitrate ,because the audio is usually calculated in that, for example if you usae calcumatic you selected audio of 128 it takes the size and then figures out the rest for video

Next time you can just use the edit button, thats what its for

I'm doing a 100 minute movie with a CQ of 72 (112 Kbps audio+VCD Mux Overhead, 80 Min CD, Average Bitrate 950 Kbps). So I'd say your value of 50 for an even shorter movie than mine is extremely low. I have set the min bitrate in my TMPGEnc project at 300 and the max bitrate at 1600 for a resolution of 480x480 and it feels like I'm watching a DVD. Ok, no surround, but the picture is great!

Keep in mind I only learned to make KVCD a couple of days ago, so hey... what do I know

Encode your audio with HeadAC3he, and you'll enjoy surround (DS2) sound ;)

@ Dikwad

Hi,
Read your post are you encoding as a KSVCD or KVCD as I noticed you were muxing as VCD but your resolution is a SVCD standard. Also what template did you use.
Thanks,

It doesn't matter which template you use. Load a KVCD template, then the unlock template (it's in your TMPGEnc's "Template\Extra" folder). This will allow you to change the resolution (to 480x480) and bitrate (to min 300 max 1600). I mux and burn my file as a non-compliant VCD.
