KVCD: Cannot see the movie?

I made an SVCD with VCDEasy. Instead of using still images for menus I used an mpg file. (So I could have a menu with sound). When I load the CD into my DVD player the image flashes for a few seconds on half the screen and then the screen goes black no matter what I do. No menu, no movie but the audio keeps working.
Is this problem due to something I did wrong, or is it a problem with the DVD player?

I have a Prosound DVD player, and it always worked well with VCDs and SVCDs.

Any help would be appreciated.

It could be many things.

1 - Your standalone don't support KVCD at all.
2 - Your standalone only support KVCD mpeg1 at standard resolution and you are doing it with non standard one.
3 - Your audio is 48000 Hz, it should be 44100 Hz.

You can start with that for now.

Pro, thanks for responding.
It seems as though, like you said, my standalone has a slight problem with the KVCDx3 resolution.
So I guess there's nothing to be done about that... :(

Try muxing and burning as mpeg2 (SVCD).

My file is an mpeg2 SVCD.

I forgot it, Im sorry.
Could you post some extra data about your file?
Have you tested your player?

Yeah, I tried burning a couple of files in the resolution of 528x576 and they appeared only on about half the screen.
I was trying to encode a 130 mins d2v file that will fit in 2 SVCDs with a CQ 0f 83.71.
I'm pretty sure my standalone works with 352x576 resolution, so I guess I should just try it with that...

Prodater64 08-13-2004 03:50 PM

You could try 544*576 also.

I'll give it a try and see if it works.
Thanks!
