Was wondering if anyone has tried this. I have a few episodes that I'd like to put on one CDR. However, some are MPG files and some are AVI. Obviously I'd encode the AVI ones to KSVCD, but the other ones are most probably VCD or SVCD.

Is it possible to have both types of file on the same CDR? Apart from the differing file sizes, would there be any difference to the naked eye? I know from reading here and from experience that its not often a good idea to re-encode an MPG into a KVCD/KSVCD.

Thanks.

You can merge it in a CD. In essence all mpeg1 multiplexed and burned as VCD, are VCD (same with SVCD, same with mpeg2). Standalones don't see any difference if your one supports KVCD.

Sorry I'd just like to clarify this a bit further.

If, for example, I have a couple of MPG's that are VCD and a couple of AVI's that I use DIKO (for example) to convert to KSVCD, then these VCDs and KSVCD's can live happily side-by-side on the same CDR?

For sure. Either with VCDEASY or Nero, each MPEG that is added on a VCD is in a separate track and so they can have different parameters.

How do you think the Sample test disc was done ?

EDIT: In fact I'm not sure that you can have MPEG1 and MPEG2 on the same disc. But you can also try it and give us the answer

The test that Dialhot point you will be appreciated, but if it don't work, you can still take your mpeg1 file, demux and remultiplex it as SVCD, then you can give all files to VCDEasy and do a SVCD without problems.

thanks for the feedback - I'll give it a go and let you know. Although, I'm not quite sure what Dialhot is saying.

If the template holds both KSVCD and KVCD, then why are you hesitant and why did you edit your post?

I'll know soon enough if a mix of formats can live together....

Because when I answered first, I didn't saw that you wanted to mix VCD (mpg1 so) and KSVCD (taht are supposed to be mpeg2, aren't they ?)

I did an anwer that is 100% sure for mixing VCD and KVCD (mpeg1 and mpeg1).

After I realised my mistake I had the choice to erase all the post or to add an edit.
