All depend on your wishes. If you "just" want results, then Diko is good for taht. If your purpose is to understand what you are doing, then you need to use a manual method.

This is the way I suggest you. All what you need is notepad/avisynth/tmpgenc for the video and besweet for the audio.

Did you try to translate the french guide with Google ? As it is fully illustrated, I think it can help.

diko use the same program and same script but just do it auto
the final quality result are the same ?

No it does not use the same tools (the encoder used is CCE or Freenc) and more, it is designed to do KDVD and not KVCD.
For KVCD (and genarally speaking for low bitrate targets), tmpgenc results are better.

But the main problem is not there : the idea is to know if you want/like to control all the process or if you just want to do obtain a KVCD whatever the way, and with no real interrest in obtaining absolutly the best.

obtaining absolutly the best is the target
whats the point of doing a helf-job. 8)

i hope i can use the french guide

im stuck in the CQmatic level, i calculated the avg bitrate and i continue but its keep open&closing TEMPEnc evey time with a diffrent CQ.

should i stop it ? or its stop auto ?

i stoped it by closing CQmatic after the 5th time cuz i thought somthing is wrong...

Dialhot 09-09-2004 10:10 AM

No ! It is a actually how it works :-)

Let it continue until it finds the correct CQ and then the real encoding will start.

If its just opening & closing with doing a small sample of 2800 or so frames then clear Source range and then save project as text based and start again.

cyron 09-10-2004 07:09 AM

hu... 8)

thought i was doing something wrong...

the CQmatic will keep going like that until if finds the right CQ and then it will start encoding ?

ok thanks alot to u all :)

wanted to ask, if i wanna add subtitles using this guide, what should i do ?

cyron 09-11-2004 12:34 PM

i finish encoding the movie, im now moving to handle to sound but i run into a littel problem...

im using VirtualDub Mod to extract the wav out.
acourding to the manual i should have a 900-1000mb size file but my file is only 100mb !

the guide: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13391
in the Decompression of the Audio in WAV PCM section.

thanks.

Hi cyron,
You see, it depends on the source MP3 bitrate.
I have a 1h26m DivX movie.
The audio was done with MP3 CBR 44.1Khz 64Kbit/s.
When I extract the audio to wave file I get a 39.7MB file.
So you see, it's up to the source...
But I guess all is fine with what you did.
Just finish your movie as stated in the guide, which BTW is very good :)
Cheers

Are you sure you checked in menu, audio, full processing mode?

rds_correia 09-11-2004 05:52 PM

Oops,
Prodater is right!
I forgot that too...
After all the wav file will be as large as you mentioned.
Double check it.
EDIT: coming to think of it, VDubMod doesn't have any Audio menu and that's why I did the same mistake.
Is it possible to do a full processing audio in VDubMod?
Cheers

cyron 09-11-2004 08:11 PM

Prodater64 you where right, full processing mode wasnt chked.
thanks alot

btw, why doing it with VirtualDub MOD and not with VirtualDub. is there any diffrence ?

rds_correia 09-11-2004 08:34 PM

Hi cyron,
There maybe lots of other differences between VDub and VDubMod but the one I most like is that VDubMod let's
me change my script with a built-in script editor.
That way I can change the script press F5 and see the differences between my previous script and my new script.
Of course there are more differences but this is the one that got my attention ;-)
Cheers

I'm still using all VDMod versions just for that it keep this audio menu.
:D

Hi Pro :)
You mean you are still using both VDub and VDubMod, right?
Cheers

Of course !

Stream menu -> Stream List -> right click on the audio track you want to convert. You will find the same Audio menu than you used to have in Vdub :-)
