All depend on your wishes. If you "just" want results, then Diko is good for taht. If your purpose is to understand what you are doing, then you need to use a manual method.

This is the way I suggest you. All what you need is notepad/avisynth/tmpgenc for the video and besweet for the audio.

Did you try to translate the french guide with Google ? As it is fully illustrated, I think it can help.

No it does not use the same tools (the encoder used is CCE or Freenc) and more, it is designed to do KDVD and not KVCD.
For KVCD (and genarally speaking for low bitrate targets), tmpgenc results are better.

But the main problem is not there : the idea is to know if you want/like to control all the process or if you just want to do obtain a KVCD whatever the way, and with no real interrest in obtaining absolutly the best.

No ! It is a actually how it works

Let it continue until it finds the correct CQ and then the real encoding will start.

If its just opening & closing with doing a small sample of 2800 or so frames then clear Source range and then save project as text based and start again.

i finish encoding the movie, im now moving to handle to sound but i run into a littel problem...

im using VirtualDub Mod to extract the wav out.
acourding to the manual i should have a 900-1000mb size file but my file is only 100mb !

the guide: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13391
in the Decompression of the Audio in WAV PCM section.

thanks.

Hi cyron,
You see, it depends on the source MP3 bitrate.
I have a 1h26m DivX movie.
The audio was done with MP3 CBR 44.1Khz 64Kbit/s.
When I extract the audio to wave file I get a 39.7MB file.
So you see, it's up to the source...
But I guess all is fine with what you did.
Just finish your movie as stated in the guide, which BTW is very good
Cheers

Are you sure you checked in menu, audio, full processing mode?

Oops,
Prodater is right!
I forgot that too...
After all the wav file will be as large as you mentioned.
Double check it.
EDIT: coming to think of it, VDubMod doesn't have any Audio menu and that's why I did the same mistake.
Is it possible to do a full processing audio in VDubMod?
Cheers

Hi cyron,
There maybe lots of other differences between VDub and VDubMod but the one I most like is that VDubMod let's
me change my script with a built-in script editor.
That way I can change the script press F5 and see the differences between my previous script and my new script.
Of course there are more differences but this is the one that got my attention
Cheers

I'm still using all VDMod versions just for that it keep this audio menu.

Hi Pro
You mean you are still using both VDub and VDubMod, right?
Cheers

Of course !

Stream menu -> Stream List -> right click on the audio track you want to convert. You will find the same Audio menu than you used to have in Vdub
