Ive ripped LOTR and havent been able to get it to fit on 1 cd with the LBR KVCD template at NTSCfilm. Has anyone else had this problem? I understand that having so many actions scenes may increase the file size, but im wondering if other people have tried to do this as well.

My first attempt gave me a video size of 797 (no audio).. I have cut about 95% of the credits out at the end as well.. So the film goes about 2 hours and 50 mins. in length.

I used Fitcd with Anamorphic off and overscan set to 1 only because when i made samples at 2 I had bars on both left and right sides of my screen...

Any help would be great.. Thanks...

tks

yes, overscan 1 is right... yesterday i ripped the chapter 'bridge of khazad-dum' with lbr just for fun, and it's 52 mb for 9:30 minutes - roughly 55 mb for 10 minutes, so you'll be happy to fit 2 hours of lotr on one cd. lotr has so few low-motion scenes that the VERY low bitrate comes to action only few times >> try 2 cds with xvcd resolution and about 50 % or something constant quality (300 kb min and 2500 kb max) it looks much better and isn't that blurry. you won't get it on one cd, not even with divx...

Ok... I was just hoping to get it on 1 cd, but I dont wanna sacrifice that much quality. As is I just did the movie "Grease" at full screen and it fit 1 cd fairly well with 128 audio..

tks

What I don't understand is if "Pearl Harbor" and "The Green Mile" both fit on one CD-R with the LBR, why doesn't LOTR fit
Both movies are around 3 hours too, and much more action than LOTR.
I'll try to give LOTR a shot sometime today, and report here

Kwag, I think I have an answer to your previous post!

I have just read the inside jacket of my Pearl Harbor DVD.
It is explained that in order to be compliant with THX standard, the MPEG2 stream quality of the movie have been compared to the original master on critical scenes.
I assume that they have adjusted the MPEG2 bitrate so that no artifact and blocks show up during fast action scenes, hence a better "compressibility". LOTR was not so well optimised...

So THX-Video = compression bread and butter.

By the way : I could NOT fit Pearl Harbor on 1 CD with kvcd-LBR-Q20 (2 blocks overscan, subtitles at 85% of their original size, 3DConvo with your parmeters = 830 Mo without sound)
Any idea?

Yes! Use the file prediction formula

I have Pearl Harbor and Lord of the Rings each on one cd with credits and 112kbps audio. They both look very good too. I used the file prediction formula to adjust the cq value so that they'd fit.
