Hi Clive,
an easy way to do that,go to :EDIT-PREFERENCES-and change
target dvd size to whatever you want,6-7 GB should be more than enough,
then you back up your dvd to a hard disc folder with no quality loss

adjust in preferences like the viking recomendations:
http://www.dvdshrink.info/preferences.php

or just choose "NO COMPRESSION" in dvdshrink and backup in hd folder!

I realize my reply is a bit late, so please excuse me. To rip out unwanted material from DVDs such as trailers, warnings, etc, I use DvDremake. It's a simple to use program and fast. Simply view the blocks and menus that make up the VOB files and remove as necessary, then export the project. If after removing the unwanted material your project is still too large, then use DvDshrink, and the results will be better than having to compress/reencode the entire DvD.

Here's a link to what the pro version can do, but honestly I'm happy with the regular version.

"Vobblanker" for me is the first choice as its free and you also can cut out parts of the cells!! :) Incl. a DVD2AVI like Preview.

yes, is very good but you only can do it all with DvdReMake Pro that it's not free.

"Everyone interested to see DvdReMake Pro in action can download demo version.
