TMPGEnc: M1v two seconds shorter than avi source

what has happened?

i have a 22:32 avi video, and after making the m1v (704x480, NTSC, VBV Buffer = 0, CQ57, max bitr=1990) the length became 22:30, and after muxing the video will stutter on my dvd player. from what i can tell, the audio (audio is still 22:32) is stuttering, not the video

the audio seems like it has to pause it self every few seconds, so that it doesnt speed ahead and go out of sync with the video

if anyone has a solution to this problem plz help! thx

You probably encoded your audio at 48Khz instead of 44.1Khz :)
Check that ;)

no kwag i do believe it is at 44.1, but i think you misunderstood me. i meant the video went 2 seconds shorter, not the audio

Yes but you said the audio seems like it has to pause it self every few seconds, and that's usually a cause of audio encoded at 48Khz.
If the video is shorter by two seconds, and your audio is indeed 44.1Khz, then somehow you got dropped frames.

hmm i think the problem might be my dvd player. it is not listed on the list you have on the main page. but i guess it will not play 704x480 properly unless i am truly doing something wrong because it was so strange.

since my m1v came out to be 22:30 (2 seconds shorter) i decided to go to virtualdub to see the last frame. amazingly it the last frame still said 22:32! but i ignored that fact, and decided to cut down my audio to 22:30 also, when i muxed, it came back out to be 22:32!!

then the last second on my dvdplayer read 22:33!! WTF?!

btw i am only running into these problems when using a 704x480 template. every movie i've done on 352x240 has been perfectly fine. i havent found a 500 some resolution that has worked on my dvd player tho. my dvd player brand is Electrohome, also branched to Citizen. hope someone can help me
