how much minutes can I put a a single disc ?

Hi,

A little post to show to newbies how much the source is the Key point when trying to answer to "how much minutes can I put a a single disc ?".

I'm currently backuping "Stargate SG-1" tv show. I'm doing all the episode with the same script, the same marging, the same config of the encoder (min/max - gop - quality...) All episodes are the same length (42min24sec) and we can say that there are the same "kind" of movie (sf/action).

Here are the lengths of the encoded m2v

Ep4 : 830 699 KB
Ep5 : 624 783 KB
Ep6 : 811 109 KB
Ep7 : 593 869 KB

Phil,

I'm doing the same thing. Which avs script are you using? I've tried many, but don't get very good results (not smooth). I'm capturing with a PVR-250 at 12000CBR (analog cable). I've been processing with different avs scripts and KWAG's DVD full template in TMPGEnc. I trim the bottom of the screen to remove the SCIFI channel's constant messages and cut the commercials.
