I understand you have a HDTV. Question. Do you get the same resolution on the HDTV as your computer. I noticed with the kvcd LBR that it looks pretty good when viewed on the computer (even up close) but on my 27 inch TV you have be far away from it not to notice the blocks. And up close? Forget it. I'm asking because eventually I'll buy a HDTV and I may just settle on the LBR for very long films if I know they'll be as viewable as on the computer.

It really depends on the quality of the movie. If its a two hour or so movie, and you use the LBR with the file prediction formula to fill up the disk, it looks pretty good. Longer movies don't looks too good on HDTV. But then again, even some DVD's don't look very good on HDTV
On a HDTV you can tell the good from the bad DVD encodings on the market.

Is the resolution better on the HDTV than a regular 27" TV using the same LBR encode? The reason I say this is that I backed up "Aliens" which is a 2:30 movie and couldn't get it on 2 disks with anything but the LBR template.

Most of the time it will look better on a regular TV than on a HDTV. The reson is that the artifacts are clearly visible on the HDTV, but not on a regular TV. As I've said before, I can see artifacts on some DVD's on my HDTV
Unless the movie is 2 hours or less and a low action film, and you can increase the CQ_VBR value, then even on HDTV it will look very good. But remember that it will look no better than a good VCD. That's the best you can do because of the VCD resolution.

I've seen advertisments for HDTV's and they mention they have "3:2 pulldown that will remove those annoying blocks". Is that for real?

Ok. I saw it. They call it "Reverse 3:2 pulldown", which would mean it's exactly Inverse Telecine
So if the original program is really 24fps, it auto IVTC's the aired 29.97 interlaced telecined material, and it will look completely smooth as our IVTC'ed (K)VCD's
