KVCD: How do I Load the Templates?

this may sound stupid, but how do I load this template???
I know how to unlock and all that because i have been playnig with the settings lately, but how do I load this template?

Do i enter everything manually?

nevermind the stupid question. I'm assuming I just save it from the site and open it in the template folder.....

Another question though. I was screwing around with the bitrates last night for a 99 minute movie. I was going to put it on 2 discs and had so much extra space I decided to try and increase the bitrates, well, it ended up taking 18 hours to encode...i cancelled it though. Anyhow, so i said screw it and just went for the ntsc template instead, but it still wanted to take a day to encode it. Did I screw something up?????

What kind of processor do you have?
A day to encode would be if you had something like a Pentium II 300Mhz!

its a Sony VAIO w/ athlon AMD.......winxp......30GB....512 RAM


I havent had any problems before, I was encoding the Sex and the Series the past few days and it was running fine. 150minutes of video only took @ 4 hours to encode...with the high motion setting.

I didnt even use that setting this time and it still is SLOW....

now, i was playing around for a little bit and was testing to see what the problem was. it seemed like if i only ran the first half alone it would run normal, but i wanted it to encode over night, so I was using the wizard and setting both parts to run. not simutaneously though.

when i was messing around with the settings....do those reset when u select a different template, or did I check something I shouldnt have that is slowing it down in every template?

Probably your settings got changed.

Always load your audio and video source first. After that, load your template, and make your input aspect and CQ adjustments if any are needed. Then encode.

even though the comp is at home and I'm at work, I'm taking notes. I was up til 1am trying to get it set right and it just wasnt cooperating.
could the problem be that I have it set for a standard VCD somewhere and not xvcd?

where do I change that?

The thing that happens is that if you load the template first, and then load the audio and video source, the later sets the frame rate, aspect, resolution, and other parameters. So then when you start to encode, you're not encoding with the parameters of the template.

That's why the templates are loaded last. After loading your sources which can be a .d2v DVD2AVI project, a .avs AviSynth script, a AVI file, etc.

So, if you open the program and your last vid/audio files are already loaded does it use the loaded template correctly or do I need to reload the template

The last step is always to load the template, after loading video or audio sources. If you go and re-load video or audio source, some parameters will be overwritten. So then you would have to reload your template, and adjust your input aspect, etc. again.
