KVCD only fills 3/4 of TV screen?

Hello,

I have been having so much luck with KVCD that I haven't had to ask any questions for awhile, but I kind of ran into a little problem. I let a friend of mine from work borrow a KVCD I made to show him how good these things look. The thing looks perfect on my tv, but he said that it only took up 3/4 of the width of his TV. He said there were no visable borders on the top, bottom or left side, but the right side was nothing but a huge black border. His tv is a 36 inch, where mine is only a 19 inch. Just wondering if anyone has run into this problem or know why it is happening. Could it just be that his dvd player isn't totally compatible with KVCD, or maybe something in the way it was encoded?

Thanks!

Probable compatibility problem with his standalone that does not support fully KVCD. What was the resolution of your KVCD ?

The relolution was 528 X 480. Not sure what kind of DVD player he's got, but he said it is old enough that he was surprised it even played VCD. I bet this is where the problem lies. No big deal though, he still was pretty amazed at the quality, which is what I was trying to show him anyway.

544 and 528 are the two less compatible resolution. Some players play both, some play none, others play only one of the two.
Don't worry, I doubt you have problem in the way you do your KVCD.

Hi,

I discover 544 horizontal resolution to be more compatible than 528 (at least, in PAL world)

Isn't 544x576 used in DVB transmissions? That might be one reason for better compatibility.

Most broadcasters use 720x576 but some satellite operators use 544x576 indeed.
