Media player doesn't play MONO audio files
Hi, i recently installed my w2k again, everything worked, but when i play avi's (divx or normal) and the audio is mono (says gspot) than media player 9 doesn't play them, you see the first frame of the video but than it just stops and nothing happens, when i convert the audio to stereo than it plays.
has anyone ever seen this problem before, how can i fix it ? |
Except stop using wmp ?
|
yes
Yes, except using windows mediaplayer, 'cause the same thing happens with streaming asf files (yes i am the same guy with the wmv/asf problems but i reinstalled w2k and everything converts nicely, only i hear nothing with mono wmv/asf files)

I had this on very old sound card that can't play 8bits sample but only 16 bits. Perhaps this is the same kind of problem.
Can't you just try with an other player ? A real one I mean. vlc, mediaplayer classic, zoomplayer... |
yep
they play perfectly in the old mediaplayer and in Virtualdub...i don't understand why this is...

Ask to M$ and they'll tell you this is not a bug, this is a feature. And wmp is full of features.
That is why we often suggest to use a real player. |
ehm
only problem is, i cannot watch online wmv files anymore, 'cause Microcrap developes a faulty product, again...
