KDVD: DVD with mpeg1 video?

1 - When a DVD has mpeg1 video, must it to be ripped with DVDDecrypted with demux option?
2 - What happends if we rip a DVD to vob file (with mpeg1 inside) and we load it into DVD2AVI?

For ripping, no matter what is inside the vob (mpeg1 or mpeg2)

For recoding (dvdshrink) : be carefull the softwares HATE mpeg1. They are simply not designed to handle that and the result is jerky and awfull

For DVD2AVI it does not handle MPEG1, from VCD or DVD that is the same.

Really? I remember the "old shool" days when doing 1cd backups. At that time when the encoded mpeg1 stream after prediction went over head I did that temporal mpeg1-DVD-generating-way including a minimal shrinkage 1-2% in ShrinkDVD afterwards, then demuxing the VOB and finally I got my matching mpeg1 kvcd stream ready to fit on one CD-R80.

Or do I mix up something ..... hmmmmm

The stream is not definitely corrupted but there is something that is done in the stream that does not please to standalone.
I did two DVD in MPEG1 and shrinked them. Awfull to read with powerdvd, awfull on my pioneer, perfect on my chinese Divx standalone...

(note: the pioneer read with no problem MPEG1 DVD generally).
