Hi
i know its an old question but pls remind me .
i know its forbiden to "increase horizontal resolution"
but why ?
what will happen to the video quality ??
is it just a waste of bitrate or does it really degrade quality ?

i only convert xvid/divx with cce - and 90% of the 16:9 are
640x272 / 640x288
horizontal resolution is always above 600
by the law of "never increase horizontal resolution"
i need to use 544x576(480) Right ?
which is 100 points less wouldnt it be better to go up 64 points
to 704x576(480) / 720x480(576)
which is alote more compatible with standalone dvdplayers ??

We do not talk about poor quality sources , espacially if Xvid/Divx, except if you capture them yourself. And if so, capture them at the correct width.
