Bitrates: Still getting oversized files with cqmatic in tmpg 2.524x

I left everything as default on tmpg with the KVCDX3 templates & punched into cqmatic the givin number by calcumatic (1090.2) it was supposed to be a 1 cd encode at 528x480 on a 90 min movie & the damn final video size was 1 gig ... 8O whats going on? whys it doin this to me?

rds_correia 06-26-2005 01:53 PM

Ok, this needs further investigation since you should have ended up with approxm. 718MB.
Please post CQMatic's log.
For that simply right-click CQMatic's log window and paste it here on the forum.
Cheers

The Untouchable 06-26-2005 02:03 PM

alittle too late for that my friend, as I had shut down cdmatic after the encode
would jobfile do? probably not huh?

Dialhot 06-26-2005 02:26 PM

PLEASE USE THE CORRECT FORUM !
And no need to open two threads on the same problem. People are not supposed to read all answers taht have been already given to you.

I am almost positive to say that CQMatic found 89.57 as CQ value. Isn't it ?

:douh: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
How could I have forgotten about that :banghead:
That's what I get for not using Tmpgenc in a long time...

The Untouchable 06-26-2005 03:51 PM

thats correct phil cq 89

rds_correia 06-26-2005 04:01 PM

 Then read the forum.
Here take a look at one of Phil's posts about CQ=87.xx
http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=90109#90109
It's easy to find it, it just took me 30 secs after pressing the search button on the top of the forum...

The Untouchable 06-27-2005 03:12 AM

so am i supposed to only have the tpr file in a simple directory eg. c:\KVCD

OR does the d2v & avs files have to be in a simple dir too?
eg. c:\kvcd.d2v or kvcd.avs ??

Dialhot 06-27-2005 03:24 AM

What is important is the files that are referenced INTO the tpr. Only the avs is in this case. But it's a good habit to put them all in a place with a short pathname.

But be carefull that there is others things to check. Not only the filename length.

The Untouchable 06-27-2005 03:40 AM

my dvd source is sitting on d:\Temp Video Conversion\dvd shrink temp\ along with my ripped subs.
my d2v is d:\kvcd.d2v
my avs is c:\kvcd.avs & c:\kvcd.tpr & I'm still getting negative # file size
do the negative numbers disapear if it predicting correct?

i am using a decimal in avg bitrate calculated (1090.2)
could this have to do with the problem????????
i know for a fact its not the source rage thing (i clear it everytime)

rds_correia 06-27-2005 05:17 AM

Please read.
You need to reset your project.
That's all written in Phil's post.

Do you know a filesize that can be negative AND correct ? :)
Of course when all is okay, these numbers are positive.

It is not but there is no need to have such a precision either.

Post the log file of CQMatic there is others things in it that can lead us towards the solution.

The Untouchable 06-27-2005 05:48 AM

thnkx phil let me setup everything in 1 dir at see if the negs stop
see you later 2nite :D

The Untouchable 06-27-2005 09:02 AM

k ... I moved everything to d:\ & kept all simple names but to no avail.
same ish different pile. Here the log, hope u can help

Look at all your  "File size difference" results :!:
They are ALL negative :!:
Check your settings again.

Edit: Change this: C:\User Doc#39s & Settings\Win XP Lite Edition\Desktop\AVS.m1v
To something shorter.

Dialhot 06-27-2005 09:48 AM

Okay, according to the time of each prediction step (a few minutes), your problem is not in the source range.

The problem is :
1/ in the length of the filenames. Open the tpr file and look at all the filename that are stored into it. If you find a "+" in a name, this is not good

2/ the character used in these filename : the same look into the tpr project to see if you see something that should not be there (# , ' , ...)

3/ you have an audio source defined n your project. Do not do that. Only a video source.

Finally, remove the two "tpr" files taht are in the same directory that CQMatic and relaunch it.

The Untouchable 06-27-2005 10:17 AM

ok I don't see any +, & have no audio defined as I'm using kvcdX3 templated (with resolution set to kvcdx3a BUT ...
could this be the problem, it says ...

Job.OutputFileName = 'C:\User Doc'#39's & Settings\Win XP Lite Edition\Desktop\AVS.m1v'

But it should say ...

Job.OutputFileName = 'C:\User Doc's & Settings\Win XP Lite Edition\Desktop\AVS.m1v'

I don't have a folder called \User Doc'#39's & Settings\
The actual folder is called \User Doc's & Settings\

So what to do now?
should I jus do what kwag said & set output file to d:\?

I told you to look into your filenames to see if you see a # or a '

And what do you have in your filename ??? a ' that is turned by tmpgenc into a #39

Note: in the original post that I wrote, and that Rui told you to look, I wrote :

2/ do not use special char in names (no space, nothign else than letters and digits)
I think this is self explanatory, isn't it ?

A nice crappy warez shit done by people not even abble to speak a correct english ("user's docs", any better ?).

I can do nothing but urging you to remove this "thing" from your PC before to face to a lot of other problems.
