FFMPEG: IMPORTANT NEWS on FairUse Wizard
The next version (v2) of FairUse Wizard (a GPL'd standalone DVD backup tool) will be able to encode by using ffVFW.
Check it out !!! FairUse Wizard 2 - Release Candidate 2 3ad @ Afonic's forum |
@patchworks
Thanks for the info, I never heard of this tool before. I shall do some research on it. :D |
No need to make so much noise about that !
(at least, no need to double post...) I t is not because a new tool use ffvfw that this last one will become a decent encoder. And it is definitely not. Note: FU is GPL ? Since when ? I never saw any sources from it. do you have ? |

Also I take it this is a DVD to XviD/DivX. If so then for me it is no good besides I would use Gordian Knot (and the Auto) or avi.NET both produce excellent quality, I would test out this tool but I really don't do DVD to DivX conversions anymore since I heard about KVCD and also since I bought my DVD burner. I may run some tests though to see what the quality is like with this tool. |

Because in case you don't know, FU use it's own ripp format. And this is very painfull when you have to ripp it once on your HD because of ArCOS protection (for instance). |
Err... source code here (v1.2)
(really small, but it's on 'download' page) Sorry for "double" post, but the main one is this. It would be great to let FU backup DVD to (K)VCD/DVD... |

This sounds interesting if it could be done then I wouldn't mind experimenting with it. :D |

I think it needs an hack... |
@patchworks
Hmm. I wonder if it could be hacked then? |

There is no "important news" for us at all then, and I suggest to close or even remove that thread. |

DVD>XVID/DIVX/OGM/MKV>DVD is a bad option, but not DVD>XVID/DIVX/OGM/MKV Lastly DivX 6 does support chapters also, isn't it? |

It is just another tool for backing up legit owned DVD's. Of course any tool that does this can be abused by the not so genuine users out there. |

Is not the sources moddable ? :?: Quote:
FU uses VirualDubMod as engine and, as said, is GPL. The "important news" (for ffdshow users... if you aren't why are you posting here ?) is that FU is the 1st DVD2'anyffvfwcodec' open source standalone backup tool. I strongly belive that IS important :!: And yes, i wanna see it grow better and better (for example by supporting MPG output). This is a news/promoting campign 3ad, of course, but could benefit the whole community (due to open source nature). |

This is a kvcd/kdvd site with a subforum talking about ffvfw, isn't it ? Not a general speaking about ffvfw. Quote:
But you don't go until the end of my previous post : this is not because FU use ffvfw that this make ffvfw a good MPEG encoder. Modding FU to produce mpg insteed ov avi/mkv won't enhance that. Note: I forgot to thanks you for the sources. |

FU could do the job in few clicks (and is open source). 8O So why not inviting KVCD/DVD fan/supporters/developers to take a look at a so interesting application ? Where's my mistake ? :cluebat: Quote:

Maybe it could be developed to produce KVCD also. :) |
