Hello bazzy, I wanted to let you know that I'm doing a SKVCD 528X480/576 and in you guide you say for us to go to Multiplexer and make sure that all of the setting are the same as yours, but what you are using in that in that guide is 352x480 template.

Should I still keep your setting even though they are different templates?

If not, what setting should I use?

P.S.

Thank you soooo much for your guides!!!

Unfortunally you can't use KVCD specific resolution (528*480 and 544*480) directly into DVD2SVCd because it does not handle them.

You must stick to regular resolution (like 480*480) or to ask in the frameserver tab to "edit script before encode". And when the video encoding step will arrive, a window will popup where you will be abble to edit the script. There you will change the resolution for the target.

1. Well, thank you for that tip , but do you know if I should keep the same setting as bazzy's guide even though is not the same project or the ones that are already there?

2. Also, do you think it matters the resolution I choose for a 52" TV, because I want it to look as best as possible.
I wanted to choose the highest one but it was a KVCD and I thought that the SKVCD would be better, but why does it not offer the 720X480 resolution?

3. Is 720X480 only useful for widescreens?

Also Bazzy also metions in his guide that:

"For this particular movie I am using, I have used the 352x480 template, it's an animation, and is 1 hour 17 mins. 77 minutes. This is very small for a kvcd but its quality that counts."

4. Why would he go for a lower resolution and still says that is quality that counts?

5. He also says, that it was a small movie for kvcd, so why wouldn't he choose a higher resolution if the movie was small?

I didn't read the guide but settings are not tied to the resolution generally. Mover if the two res used are 352*480 and 528*480. THings can be different if you go to 352*240.

DVD2SVCD developper's logic is tied to standards : if you want to have the 720*480 in the tab, just select "DVD" as target and not SVCD !
The tool will turn into DVD2DVD and will offer you all DVD valid resolution.
The choice is made in "Misc" tab if I remember well.

Why it should not ?
But with this resolution you will have to use 2 CD for a movie. Or a DVD.

Look at the number of messages he posted. Look at the date he arrives on the forum. I guess he is still discovering things himself

He does what he wants to ! You are not mandatory to do exactly what he does !

@ LeeKuid
one day i will get my HDTV,then i am encoding all my Kdvds to watch in this new (future) tv with perfect quality.
after months trying to find the best way to encode my Kdvdsdoing questions to remove lots of doubts, ink,Kwag and Phil(that was the centre of this explantions with extreme patience just kidding Phil) i fynally understood the very best way to encode Kdvds is:

don't use any resize and put 2 movies(use D2SRoba) with origial ac3(5.1) from source
and encode the video using only that filters in the script:
Undot()
Deen()
you'll will get the best using cce266 with kvcd notch matrix in D2S!

author the video and audio in any cool author program.
(i use tmpgencdvdauthor cos my encodes don't have subs.)

2 queries:-

1. This great guide refers to " DVD2KVCD Plugin - Latest (not lite) " .
where/how do we install the plugin?

2. In "CCE Advanced Settings", I don't see anything except "0 Standard" in CCE Templates. The guide says I need "CCE 2.66 or above, with kdvd kvcd templates installed"

I have CCE2.66, but can anyone tip me off how to locate the Kdvd templates?

D

Better use the "yet ready" templates done by VM. They are included in the apckage of the guide there :

Thanks Bazzy...I was in the correct guide you mention.

But my version of AV12DVD 1.2.2 build 1 does not look like yours:-

1 - In "CCE Advanced Settings" I don't see the CCE Template "1 - KDVD 720x480/576"

I have CCE 2.69 - but how do get "with kdvd kvcd templates installed" ?

Cheers D

@ Daddyboy

download one of the .reg files, and install them (double click them)

CCE 2.66 - http://www.angelfire.com/film/kvcd/g...emplate266.reg

CCE 2.67 - http://www.angelfire.com/film/kvcd/g...emplate267.reg

should work with 2.69!

tell me how it goes...

Bazzy

You put 2 times the 2.66 template. the one for 2.67 is different. Surely an error of yours.

Hi Bazzy. I think I am getting there...I have dloaded 2.66 & have the KDVD templates.

Still a problem however,
It's just the MULTIPLEXER tab now, which in my version does not have the "Advanced Settings".

Can you expand on the following snippet:
" Go to multiplexer tab, and in the folder of bbMPEG make a new text document, rename it to bbMPEG.bat and save it then choose that instead of the actual bbMPEG file. This is good if you dont want to multiplex and instead just have the elemetry streams for dvd authoring and also for more then 1 movies on one dvd-r, you do need to author."

Cheers D

You have to activate the "epxert mode" in the misc tab. Then you will have the advanced setting.

In the misc tab i don't see where to select expert mode either to get advanced settings

I am using version 1.2.2

Folowwing the instructions on the guide why do you need the advanced settings anyway

Also the new version use mplex.exe how can we shut this option off
