DVD2SVCD: Has anyone been able to get the latest release to work?

Hey all!

I've been going through these forums and the ones on doom9 to try and figure out how to get d2s to work with the kvcd temps. Unfortunately, there's way to much information for my simple mind to completely understand.

Has anyone been able to get d2s to work with the kvcd temps?
What EXACTLY did you do to get it to work?

I'm kinda fried because I have been trying to get CCE to work on my system for the last 2 weeks with absolutely no success. Now I'm trying to get the temps to work and I am very inexperienced with tmpgenc.

Outside of using d2s, and I must be searching incorrectly cause I keep get 0 hits, has someone sat down and written a kind of "here's how one can back their DVD up using the kvcd temps" - ie something like step 1 here's how you extract the movie with smartripper step 2 here's how you would load the vob's to dvd2avi step 3 here's how you load the avi to tempgenc.....?

Right now I'm just getting myself aggrivated - 1st because of CCE but that's another story - and I know I'm missing something very simple and I just can't see it.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!

Phatty2x4 -

You need in principle 3 things :

1 - Put the template you got in KVCD page in the directory of templates from TMPGEnc.

2 - Put the matrices we use in KVCD templates in the original MATRICES.INI that are in the DVD2SVCD directory.

3 - Makie some settings in the options of the program and .... start !

Well, I know that seems easy, but is not for a newbye...

My sugestion is that you wait one or 2 days more, anyone will post a bunch of .INI's files to use with DVD2SVCD and KVCD templates that will simplify your job.

By now, get the last release in the Doom9 site, and remeber : you will need both, the release candidate 1 and RC2.

oh, and what happens with your CCE ???

Duh - I knew'd it be something simple that I was missing. Gotta put the templates into TMPGEnc directory. So simple - so easy to miss.

Beyond that - are there any recommended settings for d2s that anyone uses that they feel they get great results - or by putting in all the matrices does that cover all needed settings?

Along that same thought process - is D2S the best item to use for KVCD templates? Is there something better? Yeah D2S is very simple - but simple does not necessarily equate to better. Has someone written a "how to" manual on the correct back up proccess using KVCD templates?

funil99:
CCE gets to about 12-24% and then disappears. No longer running. No process for it either. No errors show up in the event log. D2S doesn't see an error and just waits for CCE to complete.

It either does that or I get a windows error (good old Dr. watson error) - this is version 2.50 also. I'm waiting to make sure that 2.66 will work with the latest release.

I have done all ideas suggested to check and see why I get the errors with CCE. Funny thing is - up till 2 weeks ago everything was fine. I haven't installed anything. My system has had o changes to it. Just doesn't work anymore.
I also wanted to see how well the KVCD temps work with D2S. The samples look awsome! With all the comments on how fast they can convert I would love to see how fast my rig can do the job.

The latest D2S is still beta and has bugs. You are right about picture
quality. The manual process will give you much better results. :)
