you guys (and gals ) prolly have already seen this, but I was going through freshmeat and thought you might be interested, even though its just a quickly whipped up shellscript.

that is a good script , i have problems with the subs on my television , second line i wont see or half .I like to know how to put the subs higher .

but quality is fine , and a only vdc player will play these files .

for that problem on the subs I add the option "-subpos 75" on the script when it calls mplayer...
