Quote:

Using DVD2AVI:

Go to File>open>(select a vob, e.g. vts_01_1.vob, file from Step 1)
dvd2avi will use the rest of the files
Go to Option>Preview (play 1 or 2 minutes of the video)
Watch the “Video Type” field and use the table below to
set Video>Field Operation:

(1) Video Type.................. (2) Field Operation

NTSC at 5% or higher............ None (use decomb in your avs script)
FILM at 95% or lower............ None (use decomb in your avs script)
FILM only (implies 100%)........ Forced FILM
FILM at 96% or higher........... Forced FILM

Go to Audio>Track Number>Track 1 (this usually is the English audio channel)
Go to Audio>Dolby Digital>Demux (this creates an .ac3 file)
Go to File>Save Project>(your video .d2v file)
When done close DVD2AVI

Step 3 ( Video )

Creating AVS script file:

The script below is an example for resolution 352x240, NTSC, full screen.
Cut and paste this in a file named "movie.avs" or some name ending with .avs.

im using a PAL dvd and this above is making no sense
when i save it all im left with is a AC3 file and d2v
no avs. so i cant paste nothing into a script
so basicaly i can't progess ne further

and 1 more thing, ive found the old guide make kvcd from scratch but 1 of the progs i need is Moviestacker v1.1.1 and i cant find it anywhere
ne 1 help? [/b]

First, do not use DVD2AVI as it is too old. The tool is now knowed as "DGIndex". Find it here :
http://neuron2.net/dgmpgdec/dgmpgdec.html
(take the stable version, 1.4.8).

Second, as you said, for a PAL source all this is no sense. In Pal, just set "Honor pulldown flags" in the video menu of DGIndex (or "None" if you still want to use DVD2AVI).

Third, DVD2AVI never did avs ! This is a new feature in DGIndex but Blackprince guide can't refer to that as it was written ways before DGIndex offered this. The script has to be done by hand, startint for intance from the one we provide in the "optimal script" section of this forum :

Moviestacker was in version 2.1 when it has been stopped due to legal consideration. It is no more available unfortunaly. Insteed you can use Fitcd (see there : http://www.sysh.de/). The GUI differs from what you can see in the guide, but the filed to fill are quite the same, so you should be abble to use it.

Updating this guide is on my "to do" list, but unfortunatly not the time to do it
