when i encode and burn my KVCD, it's really small on my tv?

when i encode and burn my creation its really small on my tv?

maybe the resizes and templates are clashing in someway
because i don't want a really big res = low CQ
but a medium cq = ok, good CQ
just something that i maybe press zoom feature on my remote and then its watchable..

lets when you say you resize in bibcic lanzo etc... smaller than your source say e.g. Pal 720x576 ... to a smaller res like 352x376
does your kvcd template have to match your desired res

e.g Pal vob source 720x576
resize it in a script to e.g 352x576
with a kvcd template which is also 352x576? or doesnt it matter?

thanks

Whatever the resolution used the pciture displayed on the screen should have the same size. This is only the sharpness of the image that is different (the upper the res, the better the sharpness).
I mean that using 352*576 gives the same picture size than your 720*576 sources, but with half horizontal resolution.

I think that your player is not compatible with the resolution you aree trying to use. Did you try the sample discs that are here :
http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15522 ?

Actually, the last thing that you load into tmpgenc set the resolution. I mean that a 352*576 script loaded after a 704*576 template will product a 352*576 target. And the opposite is true also.

That is why we use to never really wonder about the template (use always the KVCDx3 ones), load it first, then your script. The resolution will be the one you fix into the script.

Only when you burn ?
Bad media or burn speed too fast then.

shanestar07 02-04-2007 05:08 AM

yeah when i burn, just the first few seconds of the movie the pixels break up more so on the starting creadits and then becomes ok
i burn at speed 8
i use media called Aone CD-R
which brand would recommend?
sony ,Verbatim?
well heres a link ive found via google.. here

thanks phil :)

Never go above 4x for a VCD. There is no error control on a VCD, contrary to DVD or Data CD.

shanestar07 02-04-2007 06:00 AM

ah i see. but when i load my black media into nero 7, the lowest of low is speed 8, i cant burn any lower
unless i can use some other prog?
other than vcdeasy

i have dvd decryp - i will do a test , im currently burning at 2.4x i will let you know how it goes..

thanks

shanestar07 02-04-2007 06:26 AM

well if i set write speed at 4x in dvd decryp, it still writes at 8.0x which is weird

Dialhot 02-04-2007 09:32 AM

Not necessary : the speed is fixed by the disc itself.
It seems you are using CD-RW isn't it ? Some are "high speed" and can't be burnt under a given speed.

Nevertheless, how are you creating the VCD ? Dvddecrypter needs an iso, so what tool do you use to create it ? Did you try to burn with VCDEasy ? Or even Nero ?

shanestar07 02-04-2007 10:03 AM

nope, im using cd-r 52x
i pretty much follow red ms guide but with cqmatic and use the uptodate script from here
then i create an bin/cue file with vcdeasy then i either load it into nero or dvddecrypter
im not sure how to burn it with vcdeasy because the burn felid isnt accessible its just faded for some reason

but with nero i can burn yes, only at 8x
and if i do like i stated in the post before the actual movie is fine its just the start and end titles that break up and the picture looses it e.g on the cast names at the start, they jump and you can actuall see the name loads of times across the picture...
maybe its a bitrate problem?
my tv and player are working fine - because ive downloaded a kvcd just to test it and it works no porblem its just when i encode my own dvds to vcd it jumps and breaks up...

Weird. Never heard about "high speed" CD-R but never used disc that can go above 48x either :).

VCDEasy must support the burner internally, and it seems not to be the case witj yours.

Ok. May be an already know bug of some standalone with high contrast pictures, like during end credits (white on black so). There is nothing to do that I know about. Nevertheless you can try to upper the MINIMUM bitrate in tmpenc to 300 if it is not already done.

ok i could try to change that setting phil, is that in settings and under what tab?
thanks

my writer is a NEC_DVD_RW ND 3530A if thats any use to you at all

and by the way when i encoded an avi using the project wizard and then selected a template it works fine...its whacked my brain..or its possibly a muxxing fault, i will try and mux with tmpeg to see if i get any luck i guess....

Setting -> Video -> Rate Control mode (where is indicated CQ) -> Setting -> Minimaul bitrate.

The problem generally comes from the resolution. Do you use the same resolution with the avi ?

shanestar07 02-04-2007 03:11 PM

no but i am as we speak - i have just converted a similar res i have got to mux it and i will let you know soon if its still the same

shanestar07 02-12-2007 08:31 AM

hi phil

i brought some new media 48x and still no luck at burning them at 4x
i burn some kvcds from other ppl and burn them at 8 everythings fine though
abd also i still getting the start and end titles flickering and jumping whenever i encode something :x

thanks
