Question about Handbreak

http://www.digitalfaq.com/archives/error.gif

Hi Karl and Dialhot

I want to convert DVD to MP4 to fit on CD-R and play back on my laptop.
I've tried presets "Blind" and "Broke" with 1 pass, no chapters, and
target size 659 MB. The picture is brighter then original. Can you
give me some tips to help improve picture quality. :)

Interesting this Handbrake thing, I didn't know...

Similar to MEGui, isn't it?.

But, in download page:
Code:

Please download the GUI version for your platform. The CLI is only suited for advanced users.
...
Linux          Command Line Interface (i386 Binary)

...no Gui in Linux, a pity.

Regarding your brightness problem.
Give the latest svn beta a try. In my case on OSx it solved many problems, so on Win it also could include some fixes.

All my results are very nice!

I like on Handbrake its KISS concept: Keep it simple & smart.

The only actual contra on Handbrake is that subtitles will be encoded into the picture although mp4 does support subtitles as separate streams within its container.

Downloaded and tried Handbreak svn Windows version. The encode took
about 1 hour for DVD movie of 1 hour 53 minutes, but Muxing took for
ever (approx 2 hours and counting). I stopped it before it finished.
If you have some settings that you get good results, please share. :)
