Best DVD Template D1 720x480, the picture is squashed?
I downloaded the DVD Template for my Sony DRU-500 DVD Burner.
It is the 720 x 480 size for NTSC. I am capturing with Pinnacle DC 30 Pro into AVI's. I am converting them to MPEGs in the DVD Template. However the picture is squashed. The picture is cramped down. Is it the aspect ratio? I want to create a DVD for my class to be sent out to be professionally duplicated (about 500 copies). Is the MPEG 2 codec fine for duplication? Hope you can help! Thank you! Hi Bruce,
Make sure that you have set "Full Screen" under "Settings/Advanced/Video Arrange Method" on TMPEG. -kwag |
Thanks KWAG,
But the settings were for full screen. I tried Full Screen, Keep Aspect Ratio and now DVD Creator will not burn it. Gives me an unknown error. I was wrong in saying the pic looks squashed. Rather it is too big for the TV screen. Titles are cut off, etc. Any other strategy? Thank you! BH Smith |
Hi Bruce,
Can you try opening your DV file with FitCD, and selecting DVD as destination. Then process the .avs generated script with TMPEG, instead of the DV file. Remember, you must install avisynth for this to work. -kwag |
I can try to do that. Where does one get Fit CD or avisynth? Are they downloadable? Full or demo versions? Should I try converting to Full Screen Keep Aspect Ratio 2?
Thanks! BH Smith |

For FitCD, go to the main section of this forum under "What's new", and there you'll find the link. -kwag |
Hi Kevin;
Got it all to work almost perfectly. The ratios are now fine. Except the picture gets blocky when camera movement or sudden screen movement occurs in the action. What causes that? Is it the pixels? Bruce |
