Kwag,

Your LBR template has got me interested. My family are new to the US and still miss UK TV programs. I want to set up a PC in the UK with TV card that I can access remotely as a digital VCR. As I need to then bring large files over the internet to view them here, I need as small a file as possible. Are there TV cards which could accept your template and record directly to KVCD-lbr, rather than recording to MPEG1/2 and then converting? Appreciate any help or direction here (ideally I'd want to watch streaming video, but UK broadband upload speed is 256k max - too slow). Thanks very much in advance,

Hi Brian,

I don't think there's any hardware encoder that can be tweaked with the KVCD parameters ( that I know of ). That is, the Q. Matrix and GOP. Anyway, even at 256Kbps, it will be too slow to stream a KVCD LBR movie. The lowest bit rate created by the LBR, and still maintaining a viewable video, is around 500Kbps. And that's twice your network bandwidth.
