KVCD: To deinterlace or not?

Hi Kwag or anyone else that can help me

I noticed on your avisynth scripts using blockbuster etc. that you do not de-interlace. I'm really confused as I know mpg2 from a dvd (and DV) is interlaced and mpg1 is not. Does tmpg automatically do the conversion if you leave everything as the default? I've tried several avisynth filters to do the de-interlace with mixed success. Am I doing something wrong? This has confused me right from the start...

Thanks

Clive

Hi Clive,

The scripts are based on progressive source. If you set "Force FILM" on DVD2AVI when you create your .d2v project file, DVD2AVI turns on the "rff" and sends 24fps ( as originally shot ) progressive frames to the script. No need to IVTC or deinterlace. If your source is "Mixed", then you would have to use a combination of "Telecide" and "Decimate" functions in your script.

Hi Kwag

Thanks for the quick response. I usually do miniDV so I guess that means I would add some sort of de-interlace to avisynth script.

Thanks

C
