Hi, back again!
I've been spending some months with creating divx and xvid cds now, but the fact that I can't playback them on my DVD standalone pissed me off.
I just burned Episode II on 2 CDs using your 704x576 PAL template [64 % CQ] which left enough space for two audio-streams (German & English) 256 kb/s each! And concerning the quality - I can hardly see any differences to the DVD on my TV set (only one time there is this nearly invisible 'moskito swarm effect', but I guess on an ordinary svcd I'd have serious blocknoise in that scene). Although I've experienced that the templates won't work with PAL as good as with NTSC the result is more than satisfying.
As for the prediction script: I used 150 x 25 frames but it turned out to be pretty inaccurate in the end (Yes, I DID divide by 150 instead of 100!). In the beginning I wanted to use 2x 160 kb/s for the audio streams but I had to increase them to 256 kb/s each to avoid a waste of CD space. Hey, as long as the visual quality is SO good it doesn't really bother me, but why doesn't the script work as it should? Was it bad luck and it selected mainly high-motion scenes? Or should I change it to, let's say, 750 x 5 frames? What do you mean?

PS: Your templates kick ass! No equivalent available out there.

Are you using the KVCD PLUS templates or the old KVCD templates?. The old ones use CQ, and have the standard VCD Q. Matrix. The PLUS templates use our own Q. Matrix, CQ_VBR and a different GOP. Also, you should use the KVCDPredictor together with the formula, to automate your steps.

Thx for your reply, I'll try KVCD Predictor next time

I'm using the old 704x576 PAL template with CQ, it has given me the best results from all of your templates. The x3 templates aren't very watchable on the monitor (using PAL), but the XVCD CQ look almost like a DVD (with 64 % CQ).
Another topic: Has anybody of you tried to use 4-channel sound for your KVCDs?
