KVCD: Converting mpeg captures?
I have a number of high quality full-screen mpeg captures, which I want to squeeze to fit onto a single 80 min cdr. My DVD player can only play 352*288 (PAL). For a capture of (say) 1 hr 40 mins that I want to fit onto an 80 min cdr, which is the best template (for a 352*288 1 cdr encode), and what would be a good starting point for the CQ and audio settings. I've done some tests but without much success ini terms of file size. The quality I get for backing up DVDs is amazing with your templates (many thanks). I realise I won't get this quality for re-encoding mpeg captures, but am more bothered about file size and settings.
Many thanks greengate69 |
Hi greengate69,
Use the 352x288 LBR PLUS template. Follow the procedures described on Q-9 here: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=68 -kwag |
RE LBR Template
Kwag - thanks for the reply
I just did a couple of short samples with the LBR template, and compared them to a (same file size) conversion with the standard TMPGEnc 2-Pass VBR setting. There was not a lot of difference to my untrained eye. Should I expect the LBR template to produce superior results for than 2-pass VBR (with the same filesize) ? I'm wondering if I won't get the full benefit of your templates given that I'm restricted to 352*288 ? Thanks again. |
TMPEG CQ modes are better than it's own 2-pass VBR mode. Maybe in other high end encoders it's a different story, but not in TMPEG ;)
You'll get the best quality with CQ_VBR mode. -kwag |
