I would like to confirm that the KDVD PAL templates do work although I have said otherwise in other posts. The problem that I had been having was that Harry Potter (PAL) is by default a full screen movie over here, so no matter how many different ways I had tried to encode it the aspect ratio had always came out with crazy sizes! I have now settled for the KDVD - PAL Half template at the original default ( exept for the audio which I change to dual channel for compatibility with my surround sound) and now I have a good quality copy. I have tried other movies that are in the usuall 4:3 format and can confirm that they are easy to encode with the templates.
So here it is, Sorry Kwag and Bud, you were both right and I was wrong, the templates are ok. The only thing I would add is that a Sefy or other high standard guide would ge really helpfull to people like me Just a thought.

Hey Sefy,
Log time no see . Hope your ok.
Things have changed so much in the last few months. A great addition to your guides would be FitCD with the file size prediction. That would be excelent because now we can predict file sizes with CQ encoding modes.
Take a look here for some ideas: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1294
Also, there is MPEG Mediator for audio/video and Headac3he for the best and fastest audio conversion. And of course DVD authoring with KDVD's

Cheers!,

Hi Everyone,

Well, I am working on updating the guides for next year release hopefully!
I do think I have MPEG Mediator in the Complete Guide, but I can't cover all
the smaller audio manipulation programs, too complicated

As for DVD Authoring, I got a problem covering that, cause I can't really test
it's working, and everything I do in the guide, is what I test and I see it works
so untill I get a DVD Burner of some sort, I won't be able to cover that area.

I've been doing ok you can say, been through a surgury two weeks ago, and
I'm out of a job for the last 4 months +, other then that life is pretty good.
