82-minute movie results in filesize too Big... Padding?
 

I tried both the 90min ver KVCD-plus and the 120min KVCD for Snow White, which is a 82 min movie. The both filesizes result to about 840MB, which surprised me. Is there something i need to know about padding?

So I demuxed the audio and video streams and together they are only about 730MB. Audio is 80MB at 128KB and Video is about 640MB. If i multiplex the two streams together in TPMge as an MPEG1 stream, the resulting filesize is well less than 800MB, but VCD says the file needs autopadding. On the other hand, if I encode the thing within TPMge as a non-standard VCD, somehow it pads it anyway, resulting back in an 840MB file.

I've also experimented with lowering the audio bitrate to save file space, but it seems the program somehow pads the file back to 840MB. What am I doing wrong?

Encode your video stream with TMPEG as "ES (Video only)" and you won't have this problem. Then mux your streams with BBMpeg.

bbmpeg.. can generate non standard VCD?
 

can you mux the streams together in BBmpeg and end up with a non standard VCD, or do you have to make a SVCD? My DVD player reads VCDs (non standard ones, too) but not SVCDs, unless i do the VCD header trick.

what settings do you use on the program so i end up burning a VCD?

What's going on? How do i prevent the autopadding, or is there some sort of minimum audio bitrate doe VCDs?

It seems you encoded your video stream with an incorrect setting. That's why VCDEasy want's to pad it. Did you encode as "ES (Video only)" :?:

I ran across this problem muxing with TMPGEnc once. I was muxing as standard MPEG instead of VCD or SVCD, and I was getting about 100MB of padding. Changing the header type when you mux should take care of it.

As kwag said, I have been muxing with BBMpeg for a while now, and I have had no problems at all.
