Clean slight interlacing?
I've been playing around with Iron Giant for about a week now, trying different KVCD templates ect for a nice one disc encode.
I'm getting very good results with the KVCDx3 mpeg 2 set at 480x480. I'm using the TMPGenc resize/masing discussed in the "crap" msgs =) along with the 1/12/2/1/24 gop structure. I played with the 704x480 and 528x480 settings...I liked the sharpness, but doesn't seen needed with an animated film...and I wanted a smoother picture so I went with the 480x480. I used the NoMoSmooth filter (blockbuster didnt' seem to help with this cartoon) I used the prediction formula and came out a little short on the final encode, so I redid sound at 192 and now have almost filled the 800 meg CD. I got a CQ-VBR of 14, but I think if I had used the .81 instead I might have got a higher number... ...anyway, all that is just background for anyone interested... My question/problem is that even though I used Force Film in DVD2AVI a few frames still show some interlacing. Just a few from time to time. Is there a filter I can apply to remove these last little bits? Thanks for any help. Things are looking really good with KVCD these days Kwag! I drift away to standard SVCDs and keep getting pulled back with each new advance you make here. |
Hi m0rdant,
Try 0.89 for the prediction factor or 11 if you're using SansGrip KVCD Predictor. These numbers are not final. They're still under test, but seem to target the final size very accurately. More info later today when I finish two encodes. -kwag |
I will try that .89 if I'm going to re-encode...but I only want to do that right now if there is a way to get rid of the few spots of interlacing (black lines). If there isn't I'll just let this encode be as is because it came out very nicely as is.

Well you can try bob()
I put it before the resizing line. This should help with the interlacing. Works for me. Hope it works for you. Oh yeah it will change the fps to double what your movie is. So just change it back in your template. |

Telecide() Decimate() And it makes wonders :wink: @SansGrip: Do you use these filters as default (as above), or do you have other prefered settings? -kwag |
If I'm going to use Telecide Decimate or the Decomb filter do I still use Force Film?
Interlacing is where I get very dumb =) I'm retrying Iron Giant with DVD2SVCD this time. I put in the new gop ect...and changed the prediction factor to .89 I'm not using the TMPGenc clip/mask this time because of DVD2SVCD, so I'm using Bilinear Resize from a fitCD script. When I did it manually with a CQ-VBR of 14 it came out at around 720megs with 128 bit sound...DVD2SVCD has calculated 13.89 with these settings. Actually I notice in the log file it says "Final CQ Value: 15.61" but then goes on to use 13.89 in the encode. Is that normal? Thanks again for any help. |
