KVCD: red or blue blocks appear on the screen?

ive recently been having trouble playing divx files. when i click to open the file it takes an extremley long time to load and when it does load there r blocks the colour changes every now then sometimes is fine then goes red or blue then blocks appear on the screen. also when i close the divx file i get an error msg saying memory could not be read or a windows error msg saying virtual memmory minimum is too low. and when i check the cpu usage at this time it is always 100% and everything is very slow. at first i thought the divx file i downloaded must be wrecked or something but now it has happens with all my divx files. can anyone tell me whats happening here :?:

Seems like a CODEC problem. Have you tried re-installing your DIVx CODEC's or upgrading? www.divx.com

naw man, didnt work. i use angle potion codec deleted and reinstalled still the same, im beginning to think its a prob with media player coz i i get an apllication.exe error in which i get a memoory error msg, and seriously it takes forever to load the divx file b4 it use to do load it in like say 5 secs now it takes at least 2mins and the cpu usage always goes to 100% at this time and even when i close wmplayer and after seeing the error msg it remains at 100%. any other suggestions?

I had the same problem and its easy to fix. Go to the microsoft web site and download the codec pack, if its wmp 8 then the download is wmpcdc8.After installing this I have had no more problems with divx movies. :)

if your not sure what codec you need, download the new nimo codec pack...its has most of todays codec...give that a try.. thinks it on doom9.net download section...

guys i need some guidance here i downloaded the wmp8codecs but nothing worked the file was still the same but after testing on real player and windows media player i still had the same prob so i decidedd to try divx aplha 2.0 that worked fine the divx is great there with no probs but now when i try to convert that divx into an mpg using tmpgenc it loads it as though im playing it off wmplayer so the quailty goes shit again as i mentioned above. and this wmplayer only happened after i formatted the comp so i have no idea what is going on

I think your problem may be the angelpotion codec. Several sites (I think doom9 is one) report that the codec screws with you hard drive creating uneccerssary files that will slow your system down. There are a coulpe of progs that allow you to change the header of your avi to Mpeg4 without the need to re compress the file.

Here's the link to a page with it on.

just read the paragraph and dl the prog. hope this helps.

thankx man :D problem solved!!!

just one last thing is it better to change to mpg4 v3 or divx v3 low or divx v3 fast?

I suppose it depends on the kind of movie, it may be best to do a high motion version and a low motion one then use a prog like AVIrevolution.
it compares the two films and make a single file out of both, end result a film which uses the best of the low motion scenes and high motion scenes in a single smaller file.
