Hi there,
I don't know what should I do with a DVD like this:

Video Type = NTSC 100%
Frame Type = Progressive

DVD2AVI tells me the above, I tried "forced film", the result was bad. I tried IVTC--no good. I tried deinterlacing--no good. (no good means that I see combing effect)
How come the original DVD plays fine in standalone, should I use "interlace" in Tmpeg, if so, what frame rate should be selected. Thanks!

Hi Kwag,
It's an old Chinese movie (about 13 years ago), but the DVD itself was released a few years ago.

Try this on your .avs script, right after the line where you load the .d2v:

Something like this:

mpeg2source("C:test.d2v")
Telecide()
Decimate()

And encode at 23.976fps.

The HK DVDs can cause a lot of trouble. You can try encoding in mpeg 2 at 29.97 and using the interlaced resizing if kwag's solution doesn't work for you.

What movie by the way?

And have you been to the HK Forum for edonkey?

Hi m0rdant,
It is called "All about Ah Long", I believe you must have seen this film, right?

I agree with you that HK DVDs are full of sh*t, 80% Hollywood's films are mastered as interlaced. I always have to IVTC.
