Playback is jumpng green, Fast Forward plays perfect ?
 

I tryed the samples on my HIMAGE DVD (standalone) burned with Nero, on VCD and SVCD & different speeds....
but ...

it will play but it's constant flikkering green colors, when I press the FF button the movie plays perfect !??? :?: 8O :?:

Will or can somebody tells me what's happening & what do I have 2 change 4 playing movies on my DVD with these templates?

Before I normaly used Pinnoy XVCD , this template plays perfect on my DVD, but I doesn't play on others DVD's ?

I have a Mustek 520 and show exactly the same behaviour ... a solution to this would help a lot of folks I guess :-)

@HansLuyten and zosten,

Download the KVCD compatibility image "Version 2" from the "What's hapenning" section in the forum. This way you can test what resolutions your standalone will play.

I hade the same problem with my JVC, i read somewhere to remux as SVCD with TMPEG, and this solve the problem for any resolution. But thats if your players plays SVCD's well al least i think so. :wink:

I was already creating some sample files and noticed that my DVD Player (Mustek 520) had issues with MPEG1 KVCD variants. The MPEG2 ones seem to work fine (tested NTSC only so far).

Tried (finally) the KVCD 2,0 examples from "What's happening". The first 3 work fine, the last 3 show green junk on my screen.
As I already suspected: MPEG1 in a non VCD resolution seem to cause this problem. Not sure if it's fixable though ... I think I readsomething abut i-frames? Anyone care to give comments on that?

in mpeg1 works fine only in 352x240.
all others is the same:

You can also try 544x480(576) MPEG-1 :wink:

You might want to try this out as well..

Prior to burning your 544x.. encode, place a known, working resolution as
the FIRST video clip in your burner (ie, Nero) 352x480 or 480x480 then
add the rest of your 544x.. clips and try burning a CDR/RW and see if
all is well.

The FIRST clip could be an intro or a menu or a standard "fade" clip.
Then all you have to do is burn all your other clips in addition to this clip.

Basically, what this process is doing is giving your DVD a reference point
to start from. When you give you player an non-standard format, it tends
to go to sleep or act funny on ya. You have to sort or let it know that it's
ok or sort of nudge it a little - - sounds crazy :roll:

I know this sounds a bit unusual, but it did work for me when I made a few
crazy or wacky test encodes that wouldn't cooperate w/ my DVD player.

I forgot to mention that during that time I was testing this out, was when
I first started testing Kwag's 528x.. resolution and couldn't get it to
work. Then, (that same day) I heard of the 544x.. and that seemed to
work ok. But, when I mixed various encodes w/ the 544x.. ones', I got
child-like behaviour out of my DVD player. Anyways..

I also left out that I played w/ my remote keys ie, the following keys on
my remote were used during these tests..
* resume; repeat; skip Rt/Lt; play; and PBC

Also, I think I remember placing the other encodes in various order during
the burn process.

And last, I remember trying this last step..
* I pressed play on my player, then
* I quickly pressed resume, then repeat (and set it to REPEAT all the chptrs)
* then continued watching the clip.. all seemed to play fine then.

Remember, these steps were based on unusual encodes I was working on
at the time, and I had just come into Kwag's new 528x and 544x
templates and encodes, plus whatever unusually crazy encodes I was doing
for MY test encodes.

I Hope the above works for some. But if not, at least I tried :lol:

i also have a himage (Galaxias Super market - GREECE)
( HJ - 2660 if i remember correct)
the Samples CD plays fine (all resolutions) but the audio
is behind 1-2 sec.
Have you find a template-programs-guide-tips (what ever)
to make the himage DVD plays KVCD /SKVCD ?

P.S. in my napa 316 in sopme resolutions i see green squares , but i din't
go any father .

I had a Technosonic 202 (Mustek) but I never found a solution to the green blocks. The Mustek does support some other formats as I posted in the Everything about Green Blocks thread:

"My Technosonic plays SVCD's but only at 480x480. I believe your "fake" SVCD did play at 352x480 but with flashing green screens (the B frame problem again). I did further testing with MPEG1 files and found that it would play them (with I,P,B frames) at 352x240,288,320,336,360. "

In the end, I sold my Technsonic and bought a new Toshiba 3900 that supports all resolutions perfectly.

What I do every time I'm going to purchase a new DVD player, is that I take MY KVCDs to the store and try them on different models. The one that plays them, that's the one I buy :!: I don't buy a "random" player to see if it plays XYZ format :!:

Tip: :arrow: Your "Non-Standard" KVCD collection is more important to you than the "standard" DVD brands :wink:
